Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Performance 99cent shipping special = Pony Express

My order placed on Saturday 7/9 has yet to arrive. Nothing was on back order. The latest trace shows it about 200 miles away.

You get what you pay for!

At least you got a tracking number. My last order from them (Bell Sweep R) didn't show up in their system for nearly a week, and even when I called to ask them about it, they told me they didn't have any tracking info for it.

Made it a pain in the arse to try and arrange for somebody to be home to accept it.

I didn't have a big problem with it last time I used it. I think it was just for an extra pair of shorts and some socks, nothing exciting so I really didn't care how long the shipping was going to take.

I typically don't put much faith in the speed of anyones free/super cheap shipping. I've had a UPS or FedEx shipment from Amazon just hang out for a couple days mid shipment for no apparrent reason. Bottom line, its a good deal if you're not in a hurry to get your stuff.

I'm having a similar situation. Last month I ordered on a Sunday and had my stuff by the following Friday. It's been what, a week and still nothing. Hopefully, it will arrive today.

I had a similar experience with their regular shipping. I placed my order and never got a confirmation that the items shipped. They also didn't respond to my email. I finally called and found out it shipped the day I placed the order, but it took 10 days to arrive. I think this is a way for them to get you to join their club. Then you get a free upgrade to 2nd day.
I'm not a conspiracy theorist. The NBA really is rigged.

Are you kidding?!?! Performancebike has GREAT customer service. Standard sshipping appears to be slow, but I've never been let down with 2-day. Their return and exchange and 100% satisfaction guarantee policy is matched by NOBODY!

I've never had a problem with shipments that were 2nd Day or Overnight.

I too ordered during that special. Tracking shows my stuff will be here tomorrow = 9 days after I ordered. No big deal for me.
I guess these free ship deals result in a few extra days while Performance or their intermediate shipper bunches enough mdse. together to gain the economy rate they need to offer the deal.

Ditto... the issue is with those that don't upgrade to 2-day shipping. I used their last $0.98 shipping deal and it took almost 2 weeks to get my levers & pedals for my road bike build. It was completely asinine. They took 5-6 days just to process and ship the order! Needless to say, if it's something I need I know to pay extra for 2-day shipping. I've had better luck with Nashbar, though. Order before 4pm and upgrade to 2-day and it goes out the same day.

let me help out a number of you who are frustrated. i too placed an order for the 99 cent shipping last weekend, also used the 20% off coupon that was valid then.

i got a confirmation email the day I placed the order, but 3 days later no tracking info. long story short, the order never "downloaded into the computer system."

So when they told me this, i asked to speak to a manager, told them how ridiculous it was for an order to dissappear, and ended up not only getting the order replaced with a retroactive 20% off, but I made them ship it FEDEX OVERNITE SATURDAY home delivery by 12 noon for FREE.

So it ended up being cheaper than the 99 cent shipping and i got it faster. As crappy as their front line phone staff is, their managers will give you eveything you want until you're happy - you just have to ask (demand). They never even made me argue. Never let a phone rep say "there's no way they'll let me do THAT for free" or "you can't combine that offer" etc. Make them do what they say they do, always ask for a manager (don't believe the "there's none available right now," say you'll hold and one will be there in a matter of a few minutes), and always ask for more than you think you deserve. They're making a fortune off us, even with lowest prices - make them EARN your business as I have.

for every time someone complains about a mishap, I have one too, but also a remedy that cost performance a ton and made everything work out better.

Thanks for your invaluable assistance. Now I know that their service is good if you demand to speak to the manager and make threats and more demands. I used Performance because they came highly recomended and I had a coupon.
It turns out the person who recommended them was a member of their club. Call me old fashioned, but I don't think I should have to pay $20 extra to get average service.

Im pretty ticked off with performance bike right now. I made an order for a backpack a cyclocomputer and a helmet, and a couple of hours later I emailed customer service so I could cancel that order because I decided I wanted a different helmet. I had not gotten the confirmation yet, so it makes sense that I should still be able to cancel my order. Lo and behold, I get a email the next day from customer service saying I cant cancel my order because confirmation was already emailed to me, even though it was sent out RIGHT BEFORE the customer service emailed me! Im not buying from performancebike.com again..

I mean, you get what you pay for. I use Perfomance to buy my bike "commodity" stuff ... extra tubes, tires, Powerbars, chains and cassettes for the next tune-up, water bottles, etc. With the Team perfomance discount, coupons, surf the sales etc. the prices are pretty damn good.

eh, they're pretty darn good if you ask me. I have ordered without using a shipping coupon, and it came within 3 days, I used a 99 cent coupon and waited 10 days. I didn't order a defibrillator for my dying grandma, and if I did, I would pay for the hoity-toity shipping.

Besides, this is why it takes longer...
