Definitely true. Plants are full of funky sugars and complex carbohydrates, which don't get digested in the small bowel and end up in the colon, which is primarily designed to absorb water. For reasons you might understand but I don't, the colon bugs make make lots gas. Lots of exercise and energy consumption also increase gut motility causing the same thing. Old age also decreases digestive efficiency. I spend most of my evenings in a state of noisy, uncomfortable, and occasionally malodorous, inflation.

It took me 4 tries at guessing the second position letter after getting 1,3,4,5 the last time we had a word with this 1,3,4,5.

I know I get pretty gassy when I hit the Whole Foods hot bar and go a little heavy on the cauliflower and Brussels sprouts.

I try to adhere to a FODMAP diet, but even then, I have all of the normal gastro problems. At first, it seemed to help a lot but over time, things seem to be gas as always.
All of my docs pretty much don't really seem to care. Even my gastroenterologist just shrugs it off like it is what it is; deal with it.

I'm not purely vegan, but Tums is in my food pyramid. I think a lot of that has to do with coffee, which I am again considering giving up. I'm blaming it on the covid. It affects me differently now than it did before, and not in a good way. I have difficulty waking up with, or without the coffee.

I think I am going to try to ride up Mt Wilson later today, but first mrs datlas and I have a destination hike for donuts, then we have to say bye to our friends from SF area who came down to see us for a few days. We are almost halfway through our stay here and it’s been a good mix of seeing our daughter, friends, sights, and cycling.

Lplo.
Actually not. I was looking for my post and, not finding it, assumed I was locked out. When in reality it is a simple case of the post not being posted. Prolly because I failed to log back in after the third power outage of the morning. We just had our fourth.

Probably normal. Gas has been studied extensively. Some comes from aerophagia (swallowing air) but most comes from fermentation in the colon. Best advice is chew with your mouth closed. Avoid foods that really make it bad (Google the low FODMAP diet for a list of usual suspects to avoid). You can also use an enzyme like beano. There could be a role for probiotics to tweak your flora, but the evidence for this is variable and thus YMMV.
