Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tire Pressure VS tube weight

What's better: 145 PSI With a standard tube (120 grams or so) vs 110 PSI with a lightweight tube (50-70 grams) I say this based on my almost immediate blowouts tying to use 145 psi with a michelin ultralight tube (70gm) and a Vittoria tire capable of holding 145 psi. Some factors would be rolling resistance vs weight of the wheel, the rider's own bodyweight, and cornering. I weigh 130 lbs so I favor the lighter weight/lower pressure. Yes I know there are sew-ups, but I am not using them anymore.

What's the point to 145psi and a 130 pound rider anyway? Someone smoking too much carpet?

Better for what and for whom? Super high pressures might be good for indoor track racing, but they don't make much sense for most road racing.

Maybe try something more reasonable, like a 100 gram Continental tube, and 120 psi? I weigh 165-169 and ride on 115-120 psi, it feels more than harsh enough. I can't imagine weighing 30lbs less and riding on 145 psi.
