Prop 13 limits how much our assessment can rise every year, so we're paying maybe 1 1/2 to 2x as much as when we bought the house, but nowhere near what the next owner will pay. Of course, one of the effects of this is that long time homeowners are incentivized to stay in their houses forever. And it disincentivizes buying a house in the first place. And yet home prices are astronomical, which means SOMEBODY is buying them for astronomical prices.

Hey Mojo, for Christmas next year, I’m thinking this.
If you could get it for me now, greatly appreciated.

So as dubious as I was about them, I rode one some. It was better than I expected, but quite different from a regular road bike.
I think the one I ended up on was a "touring" version. Which seems to be more of what they make and sell.
In the '70's, a "pocket rocket" was popular terminology for a weed carburetor. They sold them at Dead concerts.

...there is a guy here I know, who was fixated on buying and selling them to and for people, for several years.

i think pocket rocket might mean something else for woman as well.
I have thought about these in the past. Ended up with a Ritchey, but realistically the ritchey is going to be a pain. It will be like a boat, fun to take at first and then a drag. I want something easy.
But yea currently building one, 3000 dollars for micro shifters, 2x10 with origin hubs and sun run race wheels isn’t going to work. 11 speed isn’t even available at the moment.
I want at a minimum 105 11 spd, rim brake, dt swiss. I’m not sure who makes rims that small.

Yep. You still need a fan, but your feet are the only thing actually moving, so they get cold. Eventually the heat rises, and you can shed the gloves. As always, depends on the workout.

Start by riding in a doorway. Don’t look down but look 20 feet in front of you. It’s kinda cool, once you get the hang of it.

should have qualified that - 22 oz per 10 miles on a summer / relatively hot day ride
example - 35-40 mile ride (bike / ride pictured above) - early August 84 degrees humid (rode through two brief drizzles)
carried two 22 oz bottles - emptied the bottles just after the midway point - filled them (convenience store in a little town) and emptied the bottles just before end of ride … 88 oz
and drank maybe 4 - 6 oz or so on the drive to the beginning of the ride … and maybe 4 - 8 oz on the drive home
Less in colder temps.

I've also never learned to ride rollers. It's the pro way to warm up for a race for sure

I never had luck with the doorway. I think it is easier being just in the center of a room with nothing around you. I think the doorway or post or whatever makes it so you are always riding into something instead of just riding in the center of the rollers. The nice thing is if you ride off the rollers and there is nothing to bang into you just stop like if you were actually just riding at least that is my experience. I end up looking down and just watching my front tire and just zoning out.
