Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tubulars and the sticky sealant stuff

These latest tubulars (Tufo) I installed with a recommended sealant, to deter flats.
Well I'm having trouble getting air in the tires....like the valve is clogged.
Any suggestions? Other than 'don't use that crap again!'.

Did you take the valve core out before you put the sealant in?

yes. How would the sealant have gone in otherwise?

Did you open the valve first before trying to pump?

yes. I did.
but good question to ask this blonde!

I assume it's the sealant clogging the valves, it's on both tires.

It's raining here this morning.
And the new ride is all cleaned and sparkling after the weekend and ready to get packed inthe travel case.
I thought I'd take the Peugeot out the is morning, it has the sewups.
Still, no luck getting air in the tires. Maybe with the compressor instead of the floor pump?

Or I can ride the beer bike, the one with the old faithful Armadillos!

try opening and closing the valves a couple of times tightly, that should get rid of any excess, maybe also try spinning the tire for a couple of seconds to get the sealant pushed against the tread side of the tire instead of the rim side.

What tufo's did you go with?

The s22's with the red sidewalls, the vintage look for the Peugeot.
Trying that, still not working.
