How much did you pay for your road bike?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

May have to check out REI next time. Been a member for decades.
The tune up was by my LBS, not REI. It was comprehensive including removing and cleaning the drivetrain.

I found a bike that fit the sweet spot between what I could afford to pay and the features I wanted. Why does the specific number matter to anyone else?

It's called 'having a conversation'. To quote Succession "You don't have to say No Comment! Just don't comment.". What thought process led you to post that non-answer on the EIGHT page of the thread?

OT:
~700 Euro for my latest and greatest road bike, some more hundreds went into it since.

And since the point of the thread was stirring the pot, it seems a good fit, OT.

I see both sides here. If a member doesn't wish to participate, simply don't.
There are some trolls in here who deliberately continue to disrupt the topic, but this wasn't an attempt at trolling. @bbbean gave a legitimate answer, just in his own way.
Hoping that @BillyD will warn them.

How do you happen to know about warnings from the moderators?

This thread is obviously out of gas. And some of you folks might want to curb the harassment.
