One of our club riders got top 10's and was 9th overall after stage 4 and got 4th in the last stage so probably moved up in the overall to a good spot.

Anyone can ride the support series. It's rough and tumble in there!! Big fields, tight courses.

yeah sure, I'll go in it if I happen to be in the area at the time. :)

Just wondering who Dale's competition was? Top 10, he's doing well.

Top 10 is excellent. It's basically an A-Grade crit with a big crowd....also, every 2nd bloke is amped up to the bejeezus coz of the atmosphere, or out to try and prove a point that he should've been selected for the main game. Equals fast racing.

Steve Rossendell could blow the doors off 1/2 the Pro/Elite field.

Brad Scarfe had a tough time of it after having his bike stolen after the first stage! Couldn't get comfy on a borrowed bike and never figured in the mix. Shame really, he's been looking solid and focused over the last 8 weeks.

pshaw 01-08-06 05:12 PM

Looks like i might be working for a company with a bike team?

"Computer making giant Hewlett-Packard and Blackstone Group, the private equity firm, are examining a possible purchase of Computer Sciences Corp., the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter."

Still, 2 years at Rabobank didnt yield m(any) cycling freebies

What was it?

jock 01-08-06 05:49 PM

Stealth grey carbon thing with DA. Scott?

climbo 01-08-06 08:05 PM

yep, a Scott CR1

jock 01-08-06 08:17 PM

When he broke it he did a good job. The bike was only about 200km old, and he hadn't got around to trimming the top off the steerer tube. Looked crazy. Took the derailleur, hanger, and lug insert off in single sweet moment of madness. Also sheared both sides of big Jim Moore's front forks off about halfway up with the inevitable results. Jim's still pickin bits of Calga out of his arms, legs, butt, head......

Hi Blokes. Seasons greetings. I need to buy some bike stuff(tyres etc) and was hoping to get some web sites. Please help.

Also I went for a ride last Sat'dy morning and was overtaken by the Hell Ride. Farrk are those guys fast! It was like being overtaken by a freight train, but more scarrier. I tried to sit on the back but was quickly dropped off as they were riding at 53kph. The boys were also playing nicely as they had a Police escort front and rear.

I'll second probikekit, I just bought an ultegra chain, a 105 cassette and a michelin pro race tyre from them for NZD$145 incl. shipping. That's about 1/2 local retail.

Brian 01-08-06 08:39 PM

$80 for the tyre locally here.

Anyone got an opinion on whether Conti Supersonics any good for track or rec a better clincher?

how much? they're over priced, like most tyres

I bought a 20mm Supersonic for 40 bucks in a bargain bin. It's just ok; nothing special, but VERY light (155g)

531Aussie 01-08-06 09:13 PM

I also got a barely used 23mm Schwalbe Stelvio Light (slick) for nothing coz some dude in Black Rock, just to amuse himself, wanted new tyres on his bike. It weighs about 190g, and it ain't too bad, but is a little 'balloony', and now measures about 25mm on the vernier

jock 01-08-06 09:24 PM

You measure your tyre widths? Man you have waaaay too much time on you hands :p

531Aussie 01-08-06 09:26 PM

well, every time I looked at it I knew it was bigger than my Vredesteins, so I slammed the vernier on it :)

jock 01-08-06 09:26 PM

Under $40 for multiple at probikekit, but shipping is about $20 (flat-rate). Need to buy a few in one go to get anywhere near $40 each. Dunno whether I'm that interested

531Aussie 01-08-06 09:30 PM

oooh, not bad
