Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So are the Broadwing Hawks. They leave early, and by this time of the month they're at least halfway to Central America.

Bikes: everywhere

I saw a stellar Steller's jay yesterday.

This concludes your Coconino County bird and flying insect report.

Offense?! I have long coveted the Lanterne Rouge.

And I just missed the following podium.
The broad winged was one of my faves. I don’t think they are here. The common black hawk is built similarly. It is common and it is black, except for the banded tail.
Nice pics.

A lady I know raises them, at least she did before she moved to the mountains.

re: pic from previous page. There was a woman there, 4th from the left. Very good climber and I refer to her as the Hammer Princess because she is so obsessive. I won't tell her you thought she was a dude.

Opposite of “Dude looks like a lady?” I would post the video but my skills are off. Sad.

Bikes: road, track, mtb

An hour on the MTB today w a fair bit of climbing. I did not take my Wahoo and rode "unplugged" so it did not further contribute to my leaderboard dominance. TSB at -25... epic. Had a lot to drink yesterday evening too during my sister's baby shower. I'm freaking smoked man. Looking fwd to resting up this week and taking it easier on the bike. I think I'll feel recharged after a couple nights of quality sleep.

The week after next - FTP test and its game time! Time to get fit.

I’m not usually one to blame the officiating, but the Eagles got robbed of a chance to win the game on the penultimate play. If that wasn’t pass interference then nothing is.

I have been trying to avoid the 2+ hour "Fall Off The Earth" naps, because when I wake up I generally don't feel as rested as I do after a half hour "mostly sitting up in a chair" nap, but yesterday after the C&V ride and a healthy lunch I went for it - 2 hours of complete oblivion.. Even though I then stayed up late after that, I felt pretty good on today's ride, even though I already had over 100 miles for the week. Maybe I was more rested?
