Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Brush clearance deadline is today. Landlord was worried about getting fined but I've been doing the work for years. Can't do it this time because of the foot so I asked around about someone reasonable to handle it. Neighbor sent me a guy who showed up with a helper and way underbid the job. They did a beautiful job and went beyond what I asked them to do including trimming some trees and shrubs, cleaning the pine needles from the rain gutters, and hauling away whatever didn't fit in our green bin. I felt a little guilty paying what he asked, should have bumped it up.

In other news that might be good, I went to the dentist this morning because I've been having pain and suspected another extraction, crown, or root canal was headed my way, ($$$$). I do tend to grind sometimes and thought it might be from that. Doc couldn't find anything wrong and said it might be from grinding in my sleep.

After the dentist we went to shop for a tv. Young man at the store was well informed and very patient and answered all our questions. Ended up buying a 40inch model (about the right size for the space) for $175 out the door. Couldn't believe how cheap it was considering all the features. Guy was nice and even offered to carry it out to the car when he saw me struggle to walk.

Took a while to set it up and figure out how to navigate all the menus and we did get stuck for a few minutes when she pushed to wrong button. More practice is in order.

I lost a tooth in March, and recently became concerned about a second one. I was approaching the point of making another appointment. But the last few days it has felt better, so fingers crossed.

I suspect I must put pressure on teeth when I sleep, too.

I've had 2 extractions, a root canal, some fillings and 2 crowns in the last few years. Not to mention 3 cleanings and multiple x-rays every year. Insurance only pays a little bit of it.
Mrs John has never had a cavity or any dental repair. Ex wife was the same way, perfect teeth, never a cavity.

My first concert was James Brown, at the Apollo, sometime in the 60s.

My favorite concert was Sly & The Family Stone in1969 at the Harlem Cultural Festival, informally known as the Black Woodstock. I attended three of the six days and, among others, saw Stevie Wonder, the Fifth Dimension, Gladys Knight, David Ruffin, Hugh Masakela, Nina Simone, and of course Sly. Incredible performances.

I would have loved to see James Brown in concert. The band was tight and he put on a show. He sweat his ass off and gave you your money's worth.

The tourists are interested in the city and the beach. Rural doesn’t attract them.

Mrs seeds is in the midst of that now. I have many holes, a couple of which are covered by plastic clip on dentures.

Dad lived to 100 with all his own teeth, whereas Mom had dentures for years. Later she got implants, according to my sibs.

I only remember my mom with dentures, going back to when I was 5 or 6. Don't know much about my dads' teeth except that they started looking nasty when he was in his 60s.

One of my brothers went to the dentist and was told he had 30 cavities. He had bridges and other stuff. One of my sisters had a lot of restoration and bridges, too. She worked for a dentist and eventually convinced me to go in to get started on my own repairs.

Mom was really good at not letting us see her without her dentures. So good in fact that for years I was puzzled by the presence of denture cleaning stuff in the upstairs bathroom.

I don't remember seeing her without them, maybe I did. But I do remember her talking about it and that's how I found out.

People on the DL should contribute more quality content since they aren't currently riding. I'm looking at 2 people. My content quality is outrageously high but don't let the intimidate you from posting.

Absolutely. I have several JB tunes on my ride/workout playlist.

I recently learned James Brown might be the most sampled music on Hip Hop tracks.

"On the DL" = "specifically refers to men who identify as straight but have secret sexual encounters with other men."

So the hillbillies know.
