My wife loves cycling but she is at her wits end with the single-sided stock clipless pedals that came on her rig.
Performance apparently bought too many of the Crank Bros. Candy C yellow pedal, so they are now selling them on sale for $60.
Besides weight concerns, is there any disadvantage (leverage, height etc.) to throwing these on her road steed?
Thanks in advance...

If she is using road shoes, I suggest getting the Quattro cleats so that the actual metal cleat is protected and so that she won't be slipping around on hardwood or tile surfaces.

Why avoid road shoes? They'll be stiffer and more efficient than an MTB shoe designed for walking. I wasn't suggesting that he buy the expensive Quattro SL pedal; only that he use the Quattro cleat.

I just bought a set of Candys. Had Crank Brothers Mallets before that. I love them. So easy and intuitive to get into and out of.
I dunno about the cleat thing; I have MTB shoes so the cleat is recessed (I just use the standard cleat). Even with the Quattro or Road cleats, the shoes would need to have the 2-bolt pattern or their 3-hole to 2-hole adapter.
But crankbrothers' stuff is excellent, rebuildable, etc. you will not go wrong with them. Well, except maybe for the color, echh!

Thanks guys and gal, I have the Quattro SLs on my bike, but I just wanted to make sure that the MTB Candys on my wife's roadie wouldn't be doing a diservice to her.

well.. u should wait.. cuz the yellow candys were going for $50 last time i saw them. or check around for the 20% off coupon.
anyway.. u can't go wrong with crank bros. i have the regular eggbeaters and they work wonderful with my Specialized 05 BG Road Sport shoes. as long as u have a super hard sole.. then u'll be fine and won't feel any hotspots.
good luck~
p.s. u might also want to check out supergo or nashbar.

thelung: i'm sure the platform will help a bit.. but then again, i've never tried the candy. before i was going to get the candy with blue platform.. but couldn't at the time, till i found the EB at supergo on sale for $50, then i pulled the gun and got it.
personally i don't think the platform will help that much because on road shoes.. the bottom is flat, therefore, there will still be a gap between the front and rear of the platform before the actual contact to the bottom of the road shoes. the main contact point u will feel first is the part where the cleat goes in. then after that.. i'm sure u'll feel the dead space when ur pedeling downward and pulling upwards on the platform.
these pedal are made for mt. biking, thus mt. biking shoes will have the cleat embedded into the sole, which will make the platform helpful. i hope that make sense...

I did have one problem, A couple weeks after I got my bike I had just gotten out of the saddle to hammer up a hill and one of my pedals came off! I must not have torqued it down enough and I ended up unscrewing it self. No big damage but I ended up stripping a few threads on my crank arm (the pedal threads were fine... steel vs. aluminum steel will win). I have heard about others having this problem with crank brothers. I wouldn't let that stop you, just make sure the pedals are torqued down and glance down every now and then (or use some loctite).
I got the pedals for about the same price as they are now, but used a 20% off coupon. My bike is silver and black and I kind of like the yellow accent. Maybe I'll get yellow bottle cages to match!

Quattro cleats? I have not seen these in my LFBS anyone have a good link?
As for shoes, I've used both road and "walking" shoes (I hate those walking shoes) on my 'beaters, I prefer the road shoes and I wish they made a boot (insulated for winter natch).
