Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The Orange bike thread

I've noticed a lot more orange bike action going on in here lately - are we surfing the wave of a new & exciting trend away from blandsville ???
How about we all post pics of our ornage bike setups in this thread so we can discuss OCP points on stuff like tyre & bar handle colours etc ??
I'll start:

I took my black 105 stuff off & replaced with ultegra, & replaced the black bar tape with yellow. I have since replaced the bottle cages with yellow ones. Am I getting far too obsessive ??

Nice bike. It looks more yellow and the bartape doesn't really do it. Black bartape or even silver (to match the rims).

I like it. Yellow is slick. Keep up the good work.

My first roady. It's been compared to McLaren Orange as well as Mercedes Orange. I think it's hot, but it's mine, so I'm biased

I've always loved the Cinelli Aliante in 'Fresh Orange'. Thing of beauty.

Halloween special!

...and to the original poster...OCP poins huh?
Well first of all I'll give you this tip I have learned along the way....

When posting a picture of your machine, ALWAYS, and I mean ALWAYS, have it on the big chain ring! If it's not that is a deduction of points. It's an easy mistake to make.

Does burnt-orange/copper count?

Sure, I know she's not the fastest ride around, but you've gotta respect those handlebars and fenders!

When I was test-riding road bikes, I test-rode a very pretty Bianchi Eros Donna which was orange and black, but it was tiny. I'm not a big woman--5'5" but I felt like a trained circus bear on that bike. My roadie-bike is blue. The Schwinn you see above is my fixer-upper project bike. I'm about to put a rack and some wire baskets on it so I can use it for toting stuff around town.

Can anyone recommend me a seat that isn't so freakin' huge? And not too expensive.

If I could OCP the seat, I'd upholster it in that glitter vinyl you used to see on Stingray bikes. Orange glitter vinyl. Wouldn't that completely rock beyond all measure? While I'm living in vintage fantasy land, either glitter rubber handgrips, or that metallic plastic bar tape. Whichever.

Bikes: few too many...

Official photo from Klein. I just got the frameset used off of EBay, will hopefully have mine built before the snow arrives so I can actually ride it...

I have the same bike as r00ster14, but without the blue cages. Mine are silver. One of these days I'll have to take a picture. Cannondale's Saffron definitely counts as orange according to my daughter, who is an orange expert.
