Colored cable housing?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Colored cable housing?

While I like the stealth look of my bike, I've been thinking about adding some accent coloring. Since I have red Speedplay pedals, I was thinking of maybe some red cable housings to match. Does anyone have any links to places that sell colored cable housing, or know if it can be ordered?

Red is good, though yellow would be good too (match the labels on my Contis) and I could always retire my red Speedplays to my red beater bike and pick up some yellow Speedplays for this bike.

Any help appreciated.

Hmm, I do remember that the liberty seguros teams do have somethinga long those lines. (The regular team bike has blue, and sometimes silver, and the special edition Heras bike had gold cable housing)

I will see what company makes those.

I posted that a few months ago with very little response. I found a lot of colored casings at Brandord Bike https://www.branfordbike.com/ and ebay. On Ebay go to https://sporting-goods.listings.ebay....istingItemList and use the keywords casing, housing and cable. Check off the description and title box. I hope that helps.

Housing comes in colors, I wanted white for my TT bike but I had to buy the entire roll and it wasn't cost effective. If you guys find out a place that sells it small lengths let me know.

You might try to paint your cables, go to your local auto paint supply store and ask for SEM vinyl paint, it comes in a variety of colors, dries flexible and very durable. I have used it on vinyl car parts for years with no complaints. Cost about $8.00 for a spray can.

Another do it yourself method that might pan out is to go to a local sign shop and have them cut long strips of color vinyl for you. You can wrap them around cables and the color will remain for a very long time; it's the same vinyl they use for vehicle graphics by 3M. The color array to select from is quite large.

Bikes: Too many 80s roadbikes!

lickbike.com has the cheapest rolls I've found; harris is the only place I've seen sell all colors by the foot.

I tried colored cable covers some time back. The covers for the brake cables worked great, and I, in fact, still use them.

The covers for the shift cables were not so great. They went in the trash and I went back to Shimano shift cable covers.
