BTW, I have waxed before, it hurts like buggery but lasts a long time.

Well done and congrats!

It didn't really take five hrs but it was bloody time consuming. I think it was a blunder doing the tops, should'v finished at the tan line cause the backs of me legs are giving me hell when I sit on the stubble.

Thinkin on it, maybe the whole thing was a blunder. Now I got another thing to do every week, and this at a time in me life when I'm tryin to reduce the stuff I gotta do. Bugger!

lamagy, what sort of riding do you want to do? Race, touring, social/coffee rides, BMX, MTB/off-road. And what area of Sydney are you from, coz there's about 25 road racing clubs in the metro area!

sorry, "G'day Mates"

hehehe anyway thanks for your reply, im a 29 year old guy, living in south-west sydney and i im interested in any road riding whether is TT or just Road riding..

can you tell me how these bike clubs function?? is it like any other weekend sport, where there are competitions based on grades?? i would love to actually compete but to start i wouldn't want to be riding against any Mckewens or Indurains out there nor compete agains grandmas.

also just fun long rides at a nice pace would also interest me.

thanks,

lama

climbo 08-15-05 04:26 AM

you got it, comps based in grades A - E, start at the bottom, you get graded up as you get better, pretty simple.

You need a licence and a club to ride with to be insured to race. Cycling NSW website lists all the clubs you can join to race with.

jock 08-15-05 05:55 AM

Lama,

here's the list of road racing clubs that climbo was talking about: http://www.nsw.cycling.org.au/files/...sindexpage.htm

...and this site should get you some info on timetrials that are held on the first Sunday of each month at Calga (near Gosford): http://www.atta.asn.au/

If you are just starting out you should do one or two races in the lowest grade available (even if you are strong enough to win!). You'll need to get used to racing in a group and familiar with the course. It's easier to enjoy it when you aren't struggling.

Oh, and while you're on the subject of grandmas: some of them are pretty quick, so watch out! They might just beat you :D

Good luck.

So who do you reckon should get man of the match if the aussies manage to get a draw?

Edit: That should be 'now that the aussies have managed a draw'. You can't pick the English weather :D

I rarely venture out any more these days but this one I had to comment on, it's worth a read, I did my part.

Classic bit of comedy that.

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed a distinct decline in BF lately?? There is less and less I could give a rat's about reading. Even in the racing subforum.

sigh....

jock 08-15-05 05:45 PM

Spot on Ed. I gave up ages ago. Sick of "rate my pathetic bike" and "I'm better than you" threads. So I went to cyclingforums and got banned within two days :roflmao: Now I don't venture out much at all.

jock 08-15-05 06:10 PM

Let's just say that I didn't agree with Ric Stern's marketting methods and he didn't agree with me letting everyone know how I felt about him. :D

It was actually Jason Phillips.

HobartDave 08-15-05 06:24 PM

I believe I'm being roped in this year. Not fully ATB, though. Just Sorrento return.

Hopefully the weather will be OK so I can perve Kerry O'Keefe-style
