Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Road Kill, or "Time to shop for a new fork"

These pics were just sent out by a local club member here in Memphis. I thought they might be of interest. They might also remind all of us about the many close calls with various critters. Personally, I've dodged the little furry things from time to time, but my biggest heart stopper was a near big collision with a deer.

Yeah, I think it's time for a new fork.

I'm throwing out the challenge flag. In my wild speculation, I would think, a collision with enough force to snap the forks would either break spokes, or truncate the squirrel. Perhaps the critter was added after the fact. I don't see much blood or guts either. I would be more likely to buy this if it was posted by someone with personal knowledge of the incident, as opposed to a guy in a local club... Urban legend?

The not breaking spokes thing I could see as a possible red flag, but getting an animal wedged the way it is without major blood from said animal I can believe. As said there was a lengthy discussion on this before and unsure what truths or such was ultimately discovered. I'm going to file this one as - could happen if you work as a professional mirror smasher who walks to work at a black cat crossing.

Gives a whole new meaning to "use your fork to eat" doesn't it? As the father of a 4 and and a 2 year old, I use that phrase quite often.
