Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

About a week ago I pulled into the left lane to make a left hand turn. A car slid in behind me (25mph speed limit, which traffic was obeying, and I was going 21mph) and laid on the horn. Before I turned I launched a huge rocket over my left shoulder and nailed the car dead center in the windshield. He got caught at the light. About 2 minutes later I hear a horn coming up behind me and he's got the window down screaming at me, but there was no mistaking the huge streak across the windshield from where he tried to windshield wiper it off. I got a good laugh that time.

sweet, sweet vengeance

personally, I get the biggest kick out of cars that honk at me while I'm coasting up to a major intersection (long lights/high traffic) with a RED light!! I've yet to get someone with a good rocket, but someday i'll strike back! muhahaha

back to the thread topic, yes the idiots are out TODAY!

I don't know, but somehow getting an angry driver even angrier at me doesn't seem like the most prudent thing to do when I am on a 20lb bicycle.

Cheers,

Brian

i ride around that area a lot, 2A through arlington and through concord center. although ive never had any problems with anyone (yet...) i can see this happening a lot. the way people drive around here is absurd. every time i feel the need to cut someone off or speed down the road like a madman, i stop and think to myself "is this 4 seconds really worth it?" for the past year ive consciously tried to calm down behind the wheel. its very easy to get into this habit since everyone else drives like an ******* around here. and i do my best while in the car to be conscious of cyclists since i appreciate that when im riding. just stay calm, be cool and enjoy the ride! these people are everywhere. maybe ill see you around. cheers.

the only time I have done this was through fitting retaliation. 2 Eminem's in a rusty prelude, who blew their repair/bodywork budget on a rattley, sh+tty sound system, pull up beside me as I'm minding my own business, threaten me and call me a f*g for riding a bike and wearing "tights"...I ignore them - then the passenger launches his lit cigarette at me...I pretend to ignore it, we pull up at the lights. It's a T-intersection for cars, with a bike path dead ahead. Right before the light turns green, I launch the rocket I've been building up into the open window - dead on target. They start screamining at me and honking the horn as I spin onto the path in a low gear waving good bye and blowing a kiss (blwoing a kiss<---what to you expect from a "f*g in tights"???)
