Easiest gear on my Felt doesnt seem easy?
I noticed that the easiest gear on my Felt F80 feels more difficult than the easiest gear on my Diamondback mtn bike. Shouldnt it spin more easily than the mtn bike gear or is this just a sensation I have to get used to?
Also, the the easiest gear referred to as a low or high gear?

that is because your easiest gear on your road bike is probably 36/23, or 36 tooth front chaingring and 23 tooth rear cog. Where as your easiest gear on your mtb bike is probably 29/32... go here and type in what you have on each and see why

Maybe the engine is broken....ok sorry had to say it.
The gears are very much different. If you have a triple on your Felt the lowest gear is probably 30t ring in the front and 25t cog in the back. A MTB will have more like a 28t or 24t ring in the front and as much as a 32t cog in the back...WAY lower gear and that doesn't even take into account the fact that the MTB wheel is 26" in dia and the road wheel is 700c which is more like 27"-28".

Haha..yea well the engine is broken...but I didnt think to the extent I would notice such a dramatic difference!!
So low gear is the easiest and high gear is the most difficult?

Ah ah, we told you to stay away from Felt, and buy a Cannondale .
As said above, different gear ratio and wheels.

The bigger the rear cog, the easier it is to pedal, and the shorter the bike goes per pedal revolution.
To calculate your gear, you divide the number of teeth on the front chainring, by the number of teeth on the rear cog, and multiply by wheel diamater to get the "gear inch" The higher the number , the harder to pedal, but the farther the bike goes per revolution. Thus 39x27 equals a low gear of 39. ( a common low gear on a road bike) 30 x28 on a mountain bike equals 29. Mountain bikes typically have lower low gears than road bikes.
