Greg Lemond question

What kind of bike (company) did Greg Lemond ride?

He rode a Lemond bike during his racing career? I thought he created Lemond Bikes after his retirement.

EPC 03-22-06 02:27 AM

He spent a good deal of time racing on Look bicycles.

Is that a LOOK bicycle he is holding?

EPC 03-22-06 02:36 AM

That is a Lemond bicycle. He spent his early years on a LOOK along side Hinault.

botto 03-22-06 02:52 AM

what part of the GL badge resembles a Look logo

Bottechia

He also rode Calfees (known back then as CarbonFrames) for a while. Back during the Team Z days, his team rode Calfees too.

A Bottecchia-badged TVT

He rode a custom bike with a Huffy badge at one point.

I believe he rode a Della Santa as a junior, then Gitane, Look/TVT, Bottechia, Calfee, and LeMond (all mentioned above)...

His first road bike was a Cinelli. When Roland Della Santa became his team's sponsor, he repainted the Cinelli and put Della Santa decals on it. I remember somebody once admiring the bike, and Greg remaining silent about its true identity despite the obvious Cinelli lugwork! Soon there after he rode a 'real' Della Santa.

Talk about poor photography... I mean, I can't see any of the drive train, or a good look at what the make of the bike is. Although, it seems others have identified it as a LOOK, I can't make it out myself.

That's right. I remember reading somewhere (maybe in his book) that his parents bought him the Cinelli when he began riding seriously...

is it true he's fat now? i heard he is.

rufus 03-22-06 09:08 AM

weren't some of his early Lemonds built by Clark-Kent? they also built frames for the Coors Light team before Serotta.

abeyance 03-22-06 09:15 AM

Many former racers are fat. Their ability to consume vast quanties of food enabled them to survive in those hellish races. Even Eddy isn't skinny. He used to be a whale ( and could still trounce me ) but he has lost about 30 pounds.

No. Check the "G" on the head badge. "G" for LOOK?
