Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

He rode a Lemond bike during his racing career? I thought he created Lemond Bikes after his retirement.

That is a Lemond bicycle. He spent his early years on a LOOK along side Hinault.

He also rode Calfees (known back then as CarbonFrames) for a while. Back during the Team Z days, his team rode Calfees too.

I believe he rode a Della Santa as a junior, then Gitane, Look/TVT, Bottechia, Calfee, and LeMond (all mentioned above)...

His first road bike was a Cinelli. When Roland Della Santa became his team's sponsor, he repainted the Cinelli and put Della Santa decals on it. I remember somebody once admiring the bike, and Greg remaining silent about its true identity despite the obvious Cinelli lugwork! Soon there after he rode a 'real' Della Santa.

Talk about poor photography... I mean, I can't see any of the drive train, or a good look at what the make of the bike is. Although, it seems others have identified it as a LOOK, I can't make it out myself.

That's right. I remember reading somewhere (maybe in his book) that his parents bought him the Cinelli when he began riding seriously...

Many former racers are fat. Their ability to consume vast quanties of food enabled them to survive in those hellish races. Even Eddy isn't skinny. He used to be a whale ( and could still trounce me ) but he has lost about 30 pounds.

No. Check the "G" on the head badge. "G" for LOOK?
