How is a Ti fork to ride on compared to carbon?

It's an '04 Siena. The head tube was replaced with a traditional one instead of the integrated though. Ti seatstays would be nice... but that's what it was in '04! When I have the cash I'd like to replace the fork with a nice ti one...

I was diggin those carbon seatstays actually.

But the stickers I_bRad, why the stealth look? Fashion?

Hopefully similar, but with more confidence for the driver! Maybe I'm being paranoid, but with the amount of potholes/transition joints I frequently encounter I'm not that confident it can take the abuse long term. The bike has ~12-13 thousand kms on it now and I don't want to find out the life span of that thing. Nothing like worrying your fork is going to snap while ripping down a hill!

The carbon seatstays are fine, but I'll bet you a new frame that'll be the first thing to go (well the second thing actually 'cause the integrated headset went south, which is why I insisted on a traditional head tube when they repaired it)

No stickers 'cause I just like it better that way. It's flashy enough without them as it is... and it's not like they're paying me to ride it so why would I need 4" litespeed decals on my bike?

I actually like the Carbon stayed Siennas as well. That's something I never knew about the headtube, downtube juncture. Is this a common problem on 04 Siennas?

I'm always cruising Ebay and Siennas always cross my mind as a possible build.

This page is in desperate need of a picture, so here are a few from yesterday's ride.

Not sure how common it is, but that's what the guy at my local Litespeed shop told me. That wasn't the problem on mine, my integrated headset cups came loose! I guess they weren't very integrated.

ViperZ 09-23-07 08:40 AM

Thanks, Good to hear that your problems are hopefully solved.

The integrated headset is the one thing I really like about my Tuscany. It's easy to work with, and I love the look.

I saw a 02 Sienna on ebay that was full Ti, I almost bought it.

I_bRAD 09-23-07 08:44 AM

When I bought mine it was between your frame and the Siena. I went with the Siena 'cause coming from mountain biking I liked the compact geometry! Wanna trade? :p

:) I love my Tuscany too much to trade it, I'm sure it will be a bike I ride for as long as I can. However I'm like you and like the feel and the look of compact geometries and sloping top tubes as well.

My Rocky Wedge was custom built in 1988 with what was termed "A Radical Sloping Top Tube"

Ok, here are some more. I was bored at work and took these last month. Since these pics, I have replaced the saddle with a Fizik Aliante, the bars with Easton EC90 SLX Ergo bars, and an EC90 stem (flipped).

crdean1 09-28-07 03:17 PM

Nice. Ummm..I'll trade you the Dura Ace for my Ultegra? I have an EC90 fork on the way, but I am undecided about what type of stem. Like yours, what brand/ rise is it?

Its a Ritchey WCS 4AXIS Stem. Alloy, 84 deg after the flip. I am loving this bike - its laterally stiff yet vertically compliant! :D

Breaking it in proper at the Seagull Century next weekend. Booya!

Good man!

Good to see you out. I see fall is coming.

I joined the Ti club this year when I bought a Merckx AX. Love it so far. I am shopping for a Merckx EX now.

My plans hit a roadblock, however, today - I came across a Merckx Team SC - in Domo Farm Frites colours, my size - and NEVER ridden. AAAAARrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh.......

Well, it turns out that the Titanio shipped with the Ouzo Pro fork, rather than the Comp. MUCH better looking and lighter, too, as it's full-carbon. My complete build turned out 17.6 pounds.

And here she is, before I cut the steerer to final length....

Also, although I can't legitimately wear them, my bike is definitely going to do so. World Champion Spacers, anyone?

Comments?

I would like to hear how you like the Gary V. I have been thinking of buying one of those so I have the frame and fork here as a "spare" travel frame.

The price can't be beat.

Goodman! That really sucks when you are forced to buy a bike just because it fits huh? There is somebody in town selling an Eddy Merkx with the Campy 50th Anniversary group. Size 54. Would you be interested?

It's always good to have a spare bike in case your spare bike, or even worse spare, spare bike is out of commission

A nightmare, which is why most ti frame builders won't use it. Wayyy too flexy.
