Either Flight Deck or Cateye Micro wireless... |

Nice bike. What's that computer you have in your hands? Not so sure about the newer Cateye's reliability, I had two Wireless 1 and 2 and both failed after 2 years of use, both sending units failed. The first one failed 2 years into owning it and and Cateye sent me another sending unit free but it lasted about 2 years, so like an idiot I tried the newer version and it too failed after 2 years. But I had a problem with a VDO I bought after that and their sending unit failed after 2 years. I now have another VDO only because I got the Z model that cost $250 for just $45, but I figured if the sending unit fails I can use it as a heart rate monitor and get another Sigma wired job, those Sigmas are great computers but not sure about their wireless units. I know everyone wants wireless for the look and if you don't care about the reliability then go for it, but wired units will last forever.

9 speed dura ace shifters with Nokon cable housing. Alternative shifter cable housing instructions included with the kit. I tried it both ways, outside and under the tape and it didn't make a significant difference in shifting performance. This routing keeps the cables out of the way. After 9 speed, Shimano routed the cables under the tape.

2001 Colnago Titanio 57cm with Campy Chorus groupset and Record shifters, Campy Zonda wheels and 3T cockpit. Original paintwork was cactus so the frame paint was stripped and the titanium lightly polished. All components have been dismantled and rebuilt, or when required replaced. |
Titanium with shaped tube looks weird to me. Looks out of place, strange.
Liked the Merlin the best so far.

You're looking at it. I believe that a bike should be ridden.

broke a Suntour Pulley on a ride. at least it never broke , went on my Touring bike , Campag Euclid RD , Sun tour Bar end shifters Rarchet-friction ones.
Your shop likely bought a bunch of them , not so up north. I traded an IRD MTB Stem with the Shop to get Mine wear rate is lower than the aluminum ones. |
Here's one of the early ones, a '73 Speedwell Ti:

Those welds.
Excellent! |
^Thanks. The welds are nice throughout, but that seat cluster required a little extra work. When I acquired the bike, it had a crack in the seat binder area. I had Frank the Welder repair it and he added a reinforcing sleeve in the seat tube before welding it back together. I then polished the frame.

^No, I wouldn't say the adjustable stems (3ttt Regolabile in this case) were ever that common. More common on track bikes, but still fairly rare. Other parts that were changed: cranks, BB, brake calipers, bars, post. I have a version 2.0 planned with an O.M.A.S. titanium bottom bracket, lighter 3ttt record stem, new wheels with Hi-E hubs laced to Super Champion rims, Galli brake levers (to match the calipers), alloy FW, lighter bottle cage/clamps. It's about 18.7 pounds now, and I should be able to get it close to 17-lb. with those changes. Not bad for a 41-year-old bike.

I really want a titanium bike after looking at this thread....Makes my crabon fiber look even more crabony :p

I like the idea of stainless steel, but have not had the opportunity to ride one. Very nice alternative to Titanium.

I too have never had the opportunity to ride a stainless steel bike, none are sold where I live and never seen anyone riding on one in the area in which I live. |
