Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Is there some sort of technical reason why the Sora brifters can't have the upshift paddle like the rest of the Shimano STIs? It almost seems like they're designed to prod people to upgrade after riding their entry-level bike for awhile, and I'd think most people would upgrade to 105 or Ultegra rather than Tiagra. Just a conspiracy theory.

Even if there is, they could have put it in a more convenient place like campy shifters. (I love my veloce) The fact that they didn't lends much credence to this theory IMO.

I was able to reach my Sora thumb buttons from the drops with no problems. A slight twist of the wrist perhaps, but I did it all the time. It greatly depends on the length of your hands and not the amount of chimp DNA you possess. Big guys have big hands, big hands can reach the Sora thumb buttons.
look. if you want to have extra spacers that's totally cool with me. you needn't take out your aggression in other posts. to be clear, when i said unless you're part chimp i meant--"unless you are a big guy with big hands and are possibly a bit more honed in your dexterity". i think you understood that. i think you were just trying to stick it to me, and quite frankly, that just makes me sad. i'm sorry if i've offended you. let's just e-hug, okay?

SO basically i was just wondering if you had any ideas as to how i could change this, maybe with some sort of modification?
cheers everyone
I have the same equipment but don't have that problem but I do hope to have that problem in the future. My gut is so big, I can't get into the drops without kicking myself silly.
Someday, I do hope to be able to get into the drops and not be able to reach the thumb trigger.

Good Luck,

Dude...

No aggression at all. Personally, I found my "home game" line humorous, and it was only said in humor. I suppose that's my bad for not adding in a smiley at the opportune time.

Truth be told I didn't even know you were the same guy from the extra spacers conversation until after I read your comment above and cross-referenced your ID. It takes a LOT more than something of that nature to offend me enough to go on a propagandized war against another poster.

So, uh, yeah. No harm no foul, eh?
