New KESTREL...

i was a kestrel owner for 13 years before buying my current bike, but have been considering adding another in the near future. so needless to say, i'm a fan. i was looking around at glorycycles.com when i found this, and after being a bit repulsed at first glance, i have to say it's already growing on me :)

I like it...but not as much as I like the Evoke.

Sprocket Man 08-10-06 08:52 PM

Internal cable routing, sinous tubing and the hottest seatpost collar I've seen - I have to concur, I'd hit it too.

Are you going to get the orange or black?

Chucklehead 08-10-06 08:58 PM

it's so new that no one has any info on it yet. it's not even on the kestrel site, so i don't even know where it rates against the evoke, which is what i've been looking at.

i'd have to say, though, that if i did get one of these, it would be the black one for no other reason than it would be easier to paint.

jschen 08-10-06 09:04 PM

The angles and tube shapes strike me as a bit odd looking, but hey, if it's functional, that's cool with me. So when are you getting one? :D

Chucklehead 08-10-06 09:10 PM

haha..
not totally sure. i have to finish the project i'm working on now and see where i am finiancially. but my eyes are pretty big right now, so i'm even looking at a pinarello F4:13 =|

i still love the evoke, though. i know it's a great ride and just about as good as it gets for the money, so we'll have to see.

sometime during the "winter." :)

I saw the Evoke and Talon at Performance today. They had the Talon in my size w/ Ultegra build for $2300.

tcoop25 08-10-06 09:13 PM

Wow...that is beautiful. I was in need of some new desktop wallpaper, thanks!

i wasn't a huge fan of the talon when i tested it. the evoke, though, was pretty special. what size is your fuji?

You don't happen to ride a size 54 cm, give or take a few cm, do you? I may have to break into your house and take that Pinarello (full Record, I assume?) while you're out at some crit. I could use an Italian supermodel in my bike family.

Thylacine 08-10-06 09:23 PM

Just get a Crumpton and be done with it. :D

Chucklehead 08-10-06 09:24 PM

aw, too bad. it'll be a 53. darn. tad too small for you!

jschen 08-10-06 09:50 PM

I can live with a 53 cm. By the way, how's the knee? When will you be off the DL? We'll have to ride together sometime. Plus, I need you to show me again how to swap cassettes when my new wheels come in.

52. I think I'm happy with the sizing.

Chucklehead 08-10-06 09:56 PM

i can ride just fine without pain now, so i think i can be activated. it's when i click out that it hurts. i also can't run around or anything, so no tennis or dodgeball for a while. of course, with my luck i'll be sprinting for a sign or something and my left foot will un-click and i'll blow out my knee. i've never had an accidental click-out, but now would be the time.

Patriot 08-10-06 09:58 PM

The dropout design and wider stays looks like it would be a pretty stiff design. Quite artistic and functional.

I really like it.

Id tap it too :D

cydewaze 08-10-06 10:09 PM

I like it.

jschen 08-10-06 10:10 PM

Rolf Prima Elan Aeros. Going with the silver color. Putting 23mm Specialized Mondo S-Works tires on them. We'll see how well they hold up, and then I'll decide whether they'll be everyday wheels (minus rainy days and days with really rough roads) or if they'll be big climb wheels. I expect that most likely, I'll just go ahead and ride them regularly.

oneradtec 08-10-06 10:16 PM

New Lemond carbon is sweet too!

yellowjeep 08-10-06 10:18 PM

Same seat post collar design as the new Orbea Orca.

EdZ 08-10-06 10:18 PM

Kestrel's designs look like they should be on the next edition of "I love the 80's".
