Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Is there any clearcoat over the decals....or are they just stickers?
Of course, clear coat over the decals is needed. And that's special PU clear coat.As I know in last few shipment it's switched to powder clear coating to get better shield protection.

Are/were you employed by Flyte?I'm curious how you know this. Here is my new ride. Before anybody says "you have too many spacers", I am aware of this. I will be lowering it about 3mm per ride until it feels perfect.

Sorry for the crappy photo, but all I have is the camera phone right now...

The frame DOES have a slightly sloping top tube, moreso in the smaller sizes (mine's a 60). The whole bike comes in around 18lb if I recall correctly. It's full Ultegra with an SLK crank, FSA RD-200 bars, FSA stem, Easton Vista SL wheels, an EC70 Zero seatpost and an Aliante carbon saddle. I'm running Conti GP4000 23's at 120psi and the frame doesn't beat me up at all....

I recently bought a cross frame from them on Ebay. I needed the stem replaced with a different size, and emailed them today. I got an almost instant reply, ordered a replacement, and got a Fedex tracking number this afternoon, where it had been shipped. No idea how their business is doing, but their customer service is excellent as always. They were very helpful when I was trying to figure out whether the size I ordered was the correct one.

I may soon order a Flyte frame for my 2007 racing season. Anyone want to recommend one to me? DrPete?

I will be building it up with Ultegra 10(most likely), FSA K-Wing carbon bars, and if budget allows....Ksyrium wheels. My current Cane Creek wheels(Strados) on my Ciocc might suffice though.
I'd like a frame with carbon rear stays. Should I buy it from Flyte direct...or somewhere else?

If you really want the carbon stays, the SRS-2 is the way to go. The geometry is also more compact. I didn't buy the SRS-2 when I was shopping because I was a little unsure about the quality of the CF they used in the frames, especially being a big guy, but I haven't heard of any problems with the stays on the SRS-2 since then, so now I'm half-wishing I bought one myself.

That being said, the SRS-3 with a carbon post and saddle is a comfy ride and might be a little stiffer in the stays, but I have zero basis for comparison there--just a theory.

As far as I know, buying from Flyte directly is your only option. If you work for the federal government in any capacity, you can get 30% off, though... You can also keep an eye out for the ebay auctions that Flyte runs from time to time.

I'm very encouraged to hear that the customer service has recovered. I really hope they can pull the company out of this funk, because they're a good bunch of guys who sell a good product.

I have the SRS-2 with Ultegra grouping and have zero problems with the carbon. I ride it pretty hard through some pretty rough streets in Chicago and it is very solid. It is also a very tight bike. Not a rattle or squeak of any kind. Hopefully the changeover from full bikes to frames goes smoothly. I really want one of their Ti frames next year. I had a very pleasant buying experience from them last summer.

It's not a 60cm, is it? When you buy your Ti frame you can sell me the SRS-2 and oneradtec can have my SRS-3.

Glad to report Flyte is still in flyte...

I just ordered the 2007 Cross Frameset with an estimated ship date of 28 Aug. Prior to ordering I emailed Jamie and while it took him a few days to respond he did and clarified the shift from complete bikes to frame only. After the initial "lack of communication", he has actually been pretty speedy in his responses to my questions. Hopefully the frame will get here on time, only time will tell.

I also was able to contact Flyte with one email. Sounds like they plan to stick around. Glad to hear it, as they have some GREAT looking frames, no matter wherer they are produced.

The CX frame is hard to beat

WAR EAGLE! Cant wait for 2 Sept to get here!

As for the bike, the CX frame is probably the most versitile on the market. Accepts disk, cantis, and V's and uses 132.5 so you have the choice of MTB or road hubs. Without going custom, the best deal out there IMO. Especially, with my military discount.

Anyone have an old price list for their frames? I just had my Flyte SRS1 damaged by movers and they are supposed to replace it with something comparable. Since I got mine NOS on ebay, what I paid for the frame ($655) and what is currently comparable (full CF frame from solid company >$1500) is pretty different. Any ideas?

Nope. Try to get the $655 - as that is what you paid for it. Trying to get more than that when you got it on ebay clearance at the end of the company's run and the company is now out of business when it was an import frame as it was.....honestly just seems highly unethical. I understand your intent, but honestly - show them the ebay payment. After all that is what you paid for it.

If you want a replacement and they are willing to pay for a replacement value then find a comparable frame on ebay and show them that. 1 ebay frame for another. I personally wouldn't value the replacement of that Flyte frame for $1k even.
