Even without pictures, it’s easy to tell who the Fred’s are in this thread.
They’re the ones getting pissed off and doing all the name calling.
If the shoe fit's...

Yep.
Special note to Freds: WHO CARES what the Road Nazis think, say, etc.? Make friends with the friendly ones and LEARN a couple of things about riding from them. And let the other nonsense roll off your shoulder. Which should be easier with those lycra jersies you wear.
And remember the title of this thread is My FAVORITE Fred. We love all cyclists.
OK, maybe not Euro, but you get the picture.

Please tell me you were trying to be ironic by saying this.

Yea this thread is pathetic. This thread is not too far off from teenage girl gossip and name calling. OOOH I dropped this guy who thought he was better than he was. OHH I wont ride with this guy cause "He's Dangerous!!"....(Top Gun, Kilmer/Cruise) "You Know why I dont like you, Cause your dangerous, YOUR DANGEROUS MAN, DAMN RIGHT I'M DANGEROUS"
Whoever said some guys bike was in such disrepair he was a danger to our ride. That's rediculous, the gears squeak, the tires have dry rot, it looks dirty, his dork disk might fly off, He can't hold a line less than 1 inch left and right over 5 miles. None of this is a danger to your ride, just the rider.
2 years ago, I went on a group ride with a bunch of rich guys who did everything right on the rides. So naturally they tried to drop the guy with the 700 dollar bike. Well After yelling at me cause I didn't slap my ass when I stopped pulling, They turned it up to 11, still they couldn't drop me. So I finished the ride with the group. Did anyone talk to me when it was over? Nope, what about offer some advice on group rides? Seems now like I was riding with the members of this forum. Grow up.
These threads can be so contradictory. So tell me thread what kind of bike can I ride. I'm a college student, I don't ride in the TDF, I live on an Island, And I rode maybe 2000 miles last year.
Can I ride________ According to this thread Yes/No
An Old 1985 Trek- NO, Because I'm not fast enough even for the 20 year old Dura/Ace
A 2000 Specialized Allez- No because Steel is Real, and Carbon beats em both, and Apparently AL becomes as flexy as a tire tube after 6 months of use.
A 2006 Bianchi- NO- cause I'm not Italian
Perhaps a Giant- Yes/ except that i must replace the wheelset with Open Pro's, Cause the bike won't roll with the stock wheels
w/ A Helmet w/visor- NO cause its not as cool as a 150 dollar Helmet with real Hair from Lance
Carbon?- No To expensive, your not good enough, no mountains,
Ti- No too expensive, your not cool enough,
AL- Nope the Al bikes in your price range suck, so I better just not ride.
Steel- No your not old enough to appreciate.

I was riding with a few friends the other day and we had a new guy with us; Bought his bike about a week ago. We were just starting the ride, getting warmed up and holding about 18. Up ahead we see a dude riding an old squeaker with no helmet, NO kit, socks and sandals. I can see the guys legs from way the hell back and know this is no Sunday rider, he's just riding crap gear...
So, our new buddy gets out of the saddle and starts sprinting ahead to catch/pass this guy. He catches him, drops a gear and starts pulling away. Well, what do you think happened to someone who has been riding for a week trying to put out ~400 watts for more than a minute... So the guy passes my friend back again.
At this point, I decided that I needed to demonstrate for my buddy how you drop someone properly, so I dropped all the way down to 11 and got tucked down in and want AE for about 5 minutes. When I got up and looked behind me, EVERYONE was gone and I had to pull over and wait for my group to catch back up.
