Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My frame came in Monday afternoon and I couldn't wait to quickly assemble the parts I already had.

I am trying to decide on some Vento wheels right now, I can get a set with Shimano hubs to go with a 105 or mixed ultegra group. Also, the white balance is accurate, so the pics are correct if your monitor is correct. I dropped out of the QS2-S group buy after seeing this frame in person; so far I like it a lot.

Here's hoping my monitor is accurate because I *LOVE* the blue in that pic. I'm getting more excited everyday. I still like the straighter fork look though. I don't know anything about integrated/threadless headsets. What tools are needed to install the fork with an integrated headset?

StalkerZERO, my bike was built with the Flyte fork. I found it to be of high quality and it weighed exactly 350 grams uncut.

You guys are making me want one now. Would be a great fixed gear buildup, and cheap too. Any 55cm frames around for $99?

That blue looks a bit more 'true' blue than my frame is (at least on this monitor). My blue is a bit more muted in the shade, though it does come to life under the sun a bit... which reminds me, I haven't seen my frame outside yet and it's a great day... brb...

I thought for sure Flyte would offer more frames for sale...good thing I bought when I did, although I did miss out on the 52cm.

Here are some photos I just took outside. Compare the blue to my Park Tools stand. Ignore the flipped bars, I just did that so they wouldn't smack the frame while moving things around.

Different angle, notice the color looks a bit lighter. That is common with metalflake paints.

The stem didn't seem that heavy, but my seatpost could be used as a weapon. I may swap in my carbon Bontrager post if it's long enough.

Also, compare the different apparent shades of blue that change with lighting angle. Many people have some park tools so they can compare the relative color.

I'm pretty sure someone posted weights of the seatpost and a few other parts included in the package deal a few pages back. Seatpost if memory serves, was 250g.

I ordered the FSA Orbit Z headset from Flyte and needed no tools. The integrated cups were already in place in the headtube. I only went to the FSA site and got the FSA Headset book to make sure I got everything in place correctly. It was a simple thing. I am going to cut the fork stem after I get the other parts together. I would really not enjoy cutting the tube too short.

There are several shots of my bike in my build thread that show the fork, if these are missing something you are interested in let me know, and I will see what I can do about taking some other shots.

Is that fork in that thread the CR3 fork? There isn't any label and it doesn't look as bladed as the one on flyte's site. Maybe it just looks different in real life?

They were initially shipping the discounted forks w/o decals, which is the way Blandin likes his. They are now shipping with Flyte decals but without the reflective material (I think) which is the way I prefer it. I was almost willing to pay $60 more to get the stickers.

Dunno, it seemed to me that flyte forks seems more bladed like the ones on the Scott bikes or the real design forks. Maybe its just me. :\

I agree. There does seem to be more of an extension on the backside in this pic

Dialtone got one of the 07 frames. The 07's have the glossy powdercoating instead of the matte powdercoating like on the 06's. The powdercoating was the only thing changed between the 06's and 07's

You mean djand? Yeah, it would appear so. Looks like the 07 does look nice, but i like my 06 too.

I thought my frame was an '06; it may have clearcoat, but dosen't look like any powder coating jobs I've seen before. Just chalk it up to good photography...

Some of the builds I've seen so far like blandin's and cuda2k's partial build w/ wheels are looking really good and giving me many ideas. I'm thinking strongly about a set of Ventos with shimano hubs. Does anyone think they will hold 195lbs?

djand - I'm probably going to go with Campy Ventos on my build. I've heard they are pretty much bullet proof. Maybe a little flexy for someone your weight (according to BF member DocRay). Another option that seems to be popular is the Xero XR-1.
