Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No, this was an auction. It's a beautiful bike but I am pretty tee'd off about the fork graphics and headset thing. PBS might have to have a compression sent to them in which case I won't have the bike back til Monday. If they had the plug I could be riding friday morning...if I skip work.

My headset was not installed, and it didn't expect it to be, so that was not an issue in my case. Plus, unless a fork is listed as coming with a compression plug, you can assume it doesn't. Knowing that, I got a hold of an FSA plug before the frame arrived. In any case, these are small things for you that will soon pass, and once you're on the bike, they'll all be forgotten. Enjoy!!!

I'm an older rider and find that 30mm is the most I need for spacing, on my Flyte I used this 25mm conical spacer.

I got two 10mm, two 5mm and two 3mm spacers. I'm hoping I don't need them all but at 42 who knows. I need to stretch more.

1. Flyte CR3 FULL CARBON FORK: Part#: FL-FK-FLYTE-45-GLOSS

2007 Flyte CR3 Full Carbon Fork (Blades, Crown & Steerer Tube). Fork is integrated design and would look great on your new road frame if you don’t already have an integrated fork. Specs: 1 1/8” Steerer, 45mm Rake, 390 grams, (Note: Fork does not have decals) Retail $200 / Sale $150
I am assuming that this pic is of the Flyte CR3 fork, correct? It looks a lot like my Reynolds OUZO Comp, even down to the white sticker and the info I can make out on it. The new Reynolds forks come with the required compression plug.

For the record, my glossy frame and fork were both purchased through ebay.

It's odd that blandin's email mentioned a 45mm rake and mine said 43mm. You would think it's a form email with the same text in each. Mine had a link to the 2007 CR3 so that is what I expect(ed).

I can't afford a new grouppo until Christmas but I wasn't about to wait til then to ride the new frame. Performance Bike is moving my old grouppo over. They just called and said I can pick it up after work today.

The website says:
FSA Orbit Z Internal Headset is a Cane Creek compatible design.
so I would imagine they are all that way.

Yes. Acually is you are lucky you will end up with a top cap that says "FSA" and a top cover that says "AHEADSET" and "CANE CREEK". All same manufacturer. Cane Creek is actually considered a headset standard.

Nice logo, but that badge (at least on my frame) is almost like a piece of foam board that is glued onto the frame, like phantomcow...chances are I will be switching it out or just taking it off completely.

- yeah almost like it's one of those foam/puffy kids stickers that has a cardboard front. I thought it was going to tear when I was taking off the plastic protective cover. I don't plan on taking mine off intentionally, but I am sure it will come off sometime while it's getting handled or loaded into a rack.

haha. Well thats a bit of red tape/bureaucracy thats been overlooked. Perhaps a quick email to ya folks would rectify those continued birthday/Christmas payments.

Does anyone have experience with the Campy Xenon group? ProBikeKit has a cheap 2007 10spd that is very tempting.

I have searched the forums, but didn't find anything like a practical review.
