Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Noticed that your headset cups weren't pressed into the frame already. Mine were, and Cuda mentioned that his would need to be pressed. I thought for a second that I was missing something else about the headset that would need to be pressed...guess not. Did anyone else notice whether or not their cups were already pressed in or not??

my headset was completely uninstalled. I pick her up in 3 hours! It will be too dark for pics though.

hi565, is your frame glossy? I can't tell.

I bought the frame seatpost, stem and bars for $149 (I picked it up, so no shipping)
The other components I bought piece by piece on eBay. Example: New Shimano 150 crankset- $35, FSA wheelset- $129 pair, Slightly used Ultegra rear derailuer- $38, etc., etc.

It can be done but you have to shop it

I am 99% sure that Hi565's frame is not glossy.
My frame came with a completely uninstalled headset. I pressed the headcups in myself

The glossy is nice, but I think the matte will go better with my soon to be ritchey cranks

I haven't got a headset yet for my frame. What headsets will work with the frame. Will a Cane Creek IS integrated work?

Flyte specs. the FSA Orbit Z and if you google that headset you will see that it is supposed to be compatible with Cane Creek:

"The FSA Orbit Z headset features a very low-profile design primarily for ATB and are compatible with Cane Creek internal style headsets."

Here's the Orbit Z at a pretty good price. https://www.universalcycles.com/shopp...&category=2891

If you got your frame in the auction Flyte offers the Orbit for $30; no reason not to take it...just remember to get a compression plug.

I got my bike back tonight. It looks good but it was too dark to take pics. I won't have any available daylight time til Saturday. I was conservative with the fork cutting. I left my stack height at 29mm, which I will probably cut in half eventually. The cockpit is a little tight for me since I've lost 2cm of top tube; which I'll recover with more seatpost setback and a longer, lower stem. Right now it's just under 19 lbs with the sewups, but I usually ride the Ksyriums which put it at 19.75 lbs. At this point it's about a pound heavier than I was guessing it'd be.

I need to wrap my bars, get a chainstay protector and some carbon bottle cages.

Blandin still has the nicest looking SRS-3.....so far.

Blandin's is nice, but there will be many more to compare it to soon. I really like the wheels he has on his, but I'll be interested to see what the Campy Ventos look like if I end up going with those (about a 70% chance at the current time).

A separate, "Post your Flyte STS-3's" should be created where we all can post our completed bikes. Since I've already posted quite a few pictures of mine, someone else can start the thread and I will wait untill there are some other examples, hopefully many, before including mine in the thread.

That thread may be a ways off though. I think a lot of people won't have theirs done anytime soon. Mine won't really be done for another 2 months. I just slapped my old parts on so I didn't have to wait to ride it.

Well to keep this going...someone post to let us know when Probikekit gets the Veloce 2007 cranks in stock. That seems to be what they are waiting on before they list their Veloce group for sale. It seems that the group will be even cheaper from them than even totalcycling who has been listing the group in the $520-$530 range.

...with free shipping from PBK....and almost $40 from totalcycling.....I find that I wake up in the morning and immediately run over to the compuetr to check.

I need a life.

Psimet - I haven't been checking daily, but I do stop in from time to time to check on what's been listed. I do find it interesting that it's taken them so long to get the groups in stock when other sellers have been selling the 07 groups for some time now. Keep us posted.

I've almost convinced the wife that 4 bikes in a corner of the apartment won't take up any more room than the three that are already there. Now I just have to prove that that statement is actually physically possible and try it out. Granted, with a 4 bike setup, one of the bikes will be difficult to get to, but as it is right now one bike isn't ridable anyways (handlebar/stem/brake levers are un-done).

I waited untill the last minute, There were only two frames left on Ebay both size 56 so I got one of the last ones and there was no mention of the headset deal on the auction, otherwise I would have got it.

The offer was in an e-mail that was sent right after you paid/won auction.

Well worth waiting for. It will be very cool indeed to have thread full of tricked out SRS-3's!

I am in a world of confusion as to what to do with my SRS-3 right now. I have a set of campy wheels (Alta Races) sitting here, but my 2006 Veloce order from total cycling got cancelled. So now I'm stuck. The 2007 Veloce of 530 dollars, whereas 2006 Ultegra is another hundred at PBK. Or I could probably piece it together cheaper on ebay. It seems like Ultegra should be nicer than the Veloce, but I don't know.
So do I return the wheels for Shimano compatibles and piece it together, or do I sell one of my extra frames to a forumite and just buy a Giant OCR C3?
Sigh.
This was too perfect, and then my Veloce order got cancelled.
Any input here guys?

What are you putting on your SRS-3?
Aren't you doing Veloce too? Where did you find all that for 180??

I'm putting 07 Veloce on mine. Hope to buy the group around Christmas. Saddle and tires I hope to pick up cheap off ebay or a deal as they come. Then just need a set of wheels.
