It's a 1990 model. I got her in trade (for an old PC) in the early 90s from a friend of mine. He bought it originally, but soon realized he had back issues so couldn't ride it. I'm guessing it only had a few hundred miles when I got her. However, I was an MTBer, and this bike simply followed me around from home to home unridden until about 2006 when I discovered road cycling. It was then I started the upgrades, and the major items installed were the brifters and the whole new front end which now sports a full carbon fork. Aside from the brifters, it is still fully Shimano 105. This is how it looked before the modernization:
It's a back up bike and only has single digit thousand miles on it. The frame is stuck in 7-speed-dom though due to the 127mm rear spacing, however it fits me well and it does have a bit of history.

Just got my 2012 Madone 3.1 Apex on Friday. Have almost 45 miles on him. Love the smooth ride. Got the 52cm in mens. Tried the WSD model but this one fit better plus the Dark Blue, White and Silver color scheme is awesome.

Sure, why not. Here's my new 2012 4.7 Madone birthed from a warranty replacement for a former 2007 5.2 Madone from which I broke the bottom bracket shell out of.
Steering tube has since been cut down.

This is my "beater"... (although I love it almost as much as my A bike). It came with two sets of wheels, two Ultegra cassettes, two extra Ultegra rear derailleurs, an old school Specialized headlight, and 105 8-speed ingtegrated shifters, all for $110 off craigslist. I took off the shifters to clean them and threw on some old Exage dt shifters and aero levers in the interim, but like it so much, will probably keep it that way. Everything else is period 105. I'll soon rebuild the matching Wolber front wheel and it will be complete. I've been completely blown away by the ride quality. The aluminum fork is actually more comfortable than the carbon-legged fork on my other bike.

Trek Madone 5.2 (year 2006)
Sorry to revive older thread but since finding BikeForums in past month, I have been looking through the various threads (including older ones like this).
This is my Trek Madone 5.2 (2006) with the unloved aero-seat tube with stock Bontrager Race-X-Lite fork. At least it is "unique."
When engine/I get better, I'll swap the parts onto better frame and fork. I had found good deal on full DA7900 build kit with wheels. Or if engine really that better I'll just get whole new road bike and make this my backup as it appears many BF members with at least three road bikes.
Frame is 58cm
Full DuraAce 7900 group with Gore RideOn cables
Easton EA90SLX wheels with Contiental 4000s tires
3T ARX stem
3T Ergonova Team bar
Chris King headset and bottom bracket
Selle Italia SLR gel flow saddle
Ritchey carbon superlogic seatpost
Arundel chrono cage (aerobottle left off pic)
Cateye V3 cyclometer
total weight as pictured 16.7 lbs (certainly no weight weeenie but ok for low-end original Madone frame)

Personally, I'd gladly sacrifice a few pounds for a horizontal top-tube frame

Popping in to share my good fortune... I've ridden this bike for the last couple years, '99 2500SL with a complete Chorus 9 speed group. I love it, but it's a bit long in the tooth.
So I come home the other day and my girlfriend asked me to come outside to help with groceries. She literally floored me by giving me this baby, a 2013 Madone 3.1. No special occasion, just as a complete surprise because she knows how much I love cycling and she knows I can't afford anything like this (I agonize over just buying new tires). She also has a good inclination that she'll be getting something even more expensive to put on her finger soon, so she gave me a much appreciated preemptive strike . I'm going to lower the stem once I'm used to the new frame, which is phenomenally smooth considering I've never ridden anything carbon, so it's eye opening. Also, the mismatched wheels are because I'm waiting on a new freehub to come in for the matching rear Vuelta, which is currently splined for Campy and thus incompatible so I'm stuck with the stock boat anchor Bontrager rear wheel, which somehow is already slightly wobbly after 2 rides and 85 miles. It's also interesting getting used to 105 5700 shifters, I keep looking for my Campy thumb buttons and I miss the ability to go up more than 1 gear at a time in the back, but I love the ergonomics and the flawless operation. Not any lighter than my old bike, but I'm thrilled with it and it's nice to have a new bike with a warranty! I'm a very, very lucky man!

Back in April I got a 2012 3.1 Apex Madone and had an accident in late May that damaged the chain stay resulting in needing to replace the bike. Got a 2012 4.5 thru the crash replacement program.
This is PRIOR to it's maiden voyage...hence the gears not being BF picture ready.
Here the 4.5 is again at the turnaround point of my first half century ride.

2010 1.5 with '10 Mavic Ksyrium SL's, Continental GP4000S, KMC X9SL gold chain, Bontrager RXL bottle cages and seat post, and I upgraded the generic brakes to Tiagra. I figured I'd try to keep the bike full Tiagra (minus the FSA crankset). As pictured... the bikes weighs in at 18.6 pounds.
