Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bianchi Vigorelli versus Veloce frameset....

Does anybody know if the Vigorelli and Veloce framesets are identical only with a different paint job? Geometry is identical and both I believe are made from Reynolds 631 steel. Did Bianchi create two different model bikes with for all intents to simply hang different gruppos on them?...Vig with Shimano and Veloce with Campy...but the framesets themselves are identical?

Bianchi experts...please let me know if you would.
Thanks,
George

Not an expert, but from what I understand, the Veloce, Vigorelli and Virata are all the same frame w/ different gruppos and hence the different prices and colors.

I had the Vigorelli, excellent steel bike. Veloce and Vigorelli are the same frame, just different
name and paint job, and each w/ a different gruppo. That's all.
If you like Shimano go Vigorelli, if Campy go Veloce.

Say it isn't so. I saw the 2006 last year with the Veloce compact crank and it was nice. I was looking forward to seeing it decked out in the new Veloce group for this year. Does Bianchi offer any bikes with Campy?

Thanks Guys. Do love my Veloce. Interesting Bianchi discontinued that model. I am a Campy guy and why I chose the Veloce over the Vig.

Only a couple, and no steel. In the C2C line, only a 928 Carbon/Chorus; in B4P, an 1885 Veloce (Aluminum), a 928 Carbon L/Chorus, and an S9 Matta Record (Ti), and in HoC, an FG Lite Carbon/Record and 928 Carbon SL/Record.

FYI, a friend of mine owns a shop and is blowing out 2006's at killer prices. I cannot post name of shop, but if anyone is interested, pm me. BTW, my Eros has the Reynolds 631 frame, Campy Marage, and I am in love with the ride and rock solid drivetrain. Me happy.

Incorrect - you can still pick up a 2007 631 steel-framed Bianchi Eros/Eros Donna with Campagnolo Mirage components. The new aluminum Dama Blanca is also Mirage-equipped.

I went and looked at the 2006 and 2007 Eros today. Only big change is color availability and the wheels (up to Aksiums from ALX something). Price got bumped accordingly.

I might jump on the 06, save money, and buy some of the Campy Vento wheels (140USD at 11speed.com). The bike also screams for a new saddle, seatpost and crankset, but those would come with time.
