Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

"Differential" brake system, good or bad?

Example, where the rear brake caliper is a single-pivot unit but the front remains dual-pivot.

Saves weight, works pretty well. I have the '07 Chorus skeleton brakes and they stop great.

Dual pivots make no difference to my style of riding. I just wish I can get my hands on a pair of single pivot Campy skeletons. Purely aesthetics, single pivots have so much more elegance over dual pivots. I currently use Campy Monoplaners on my road bike.

If you can find some way of extending the mounting bolt for use on the front, you could probably just order individual rear brakes from a Campy dealer, or just buy 2 sets and sell the 2 fronts on ebay.

The Zero Gravity brakes are single pivot, with cams to increase the leverage. The cams are separately optimized for front and back. Those should do the trick, Fixer.

Just buy 2 sets of '07 Chorus brakes and only use the rears. It'll be cheaper.

I don't think my bike is worth sporting a good $400 pair of brake calipers....

There's the ones with stainless steel parts replacing some titanium parts that run a bit cheaper. And occasionally, you can find either on clearance. (That's why I splurged on mine... couldn't resist a good sale.)

+1 with my Record skeleton. However, I thought a major reason for the rear single pivot is to reduce the chance of lock-ups.

Problem Solvers, comes in both 22mm and 30mm lengths.

I think it would be so beautiful to have two single pivot Campy skeletons.

My 06 chorus is single pivot rear, dual pivot front. For the first 100 miles I had to concentrate on not locking up the rear tire.

Exactly....acts like antilock on the rear wheel to prevent lockups and skidding, according to their website. Only Chorus and up have the bearings in the pivot though.
