Watch out when ordering from performance

most products nowadays actually have a 'sell by' date on them, not an 'expiration date'.
retailers will discount the items a couple days before the 'sell by' date, and discard it on the sell by date.
but they're safe to eat after, just not optimum freshness.

After Performance gobbled up Nashbar, I found their mail service to be too much hassle. Some orders took months to complete. I started using Colorado Cyclist.

There's a reason why their prices sometimes get very low.
We sometimes do the same thing, but we tell the customer that the product's almost past the "sell by" date and let them decide.
Being honest is usually a better way to go. That way we don't read about ourselves on the internet.

FWIW, I've found that most bike shops tend to mark up nutrition items more than others... I've started buying endurox and stuff from www.smartbodynutrition.com and others. They also have GU for $19.99/24 pack. I've never gotten anything that was close to expiration from them...

Just received tubs of Accelerade & Endurox from Performance. Expy date for both is mid-'08. I've never had anything but good service from Performance.

A tip for ordering from Performance cycle is to go to the local performance store and order from the red phone in the store. Have the stuff shipped to the store for free, they will honor the web coupons as long as you mention them on the phone.

Geez... i'd never even looked for an expiration date on gel packs. Mine are probably months old already.
