Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah, I guess it's the shape of the blade or something, but MrsDrPete's Venus was a much better shave than my Fusion. I didn't tell her.

I did make the comment though of how "nice" it felt wearing jeans after a fresh shave. Yeah, she had a field day with that one.

Seriously he should just go with the wife on this. If he were to grow a pair and oppose her, he would have to shave them too.

Yes, I enjoy living in a University town full of drunken college rednecks, it makes the shaved legs and spandex... interesting. At least I get a lot of offers.

I use my hubby's razors all the time because they are way better, he only finds out when he lets out a scream while shaving his face, not his legs unfortunatly..
funny to me how some wives would complain about smooooooth muscular legs.

Theres an easy answer to this after you shave your legs for the first time let the hair grow out and every night in bed make sure to rub your stubbly legs all over your wifes legs. Yes let her feel the burn. Either she will kick you out of bed or you will get to keep shaving your legs. So good luck.

It's funny--I had never been approached by a woman at the gym prior to shaving my legs. After doing it, two women came up and started conversations with me. So I guess I really should've started BEFORE I got married.

My statement was in response to his comment about always having to pick gravel out of hairy road rash legs. I just thought, wow, he must crash alot!

I shave to avoid the "caveman in lycra" look. So far I got only positive feedback.

Serious question to those who shave from one who has considered it- do you just do the legs, to the point that they are under the shorts, or do you go, as it were, all the way up. Like most men, i suspect, i have occassional chafing issues- do you find this makes them better, worse, or no change?

Perhaps woman find effeminate men more approachable...

I have found that if I start shaving my legs that I end up shaving everything.

Well, see, here's how I come out on this...

(1) If shaving your legs doesn't reduce the number of times you get laid per month then it doesn't matter what your wife thinks

(2) If shaving does indeed reduce the laid-quotient, go buy some DVD episodes of Magnum PI or Saturday Night Fever that your wife can watch during foreplay to put her in the mood.

Glad to be of help

Sheldon Brown says there is no reason to shave your legs other than vanity. Alternatively I read somewhere else that if you are getting your legs massaged regularly shaving stops you from getting bacteria in the hair follicles which causes those nasty red spots. As for shaved legs being less likely to suffer from infection after you have chucked you and your bike down the road and have the gravel rash from hell-just scrub the rash out to make it bleed and you'll be fine.
So I guess it's a case of whatever floats your boat, but for me razors are for faces, why mow extra acreage. And yes I have had gravel rash scrubbed out. T'is best done quick.

I like this option better.

And NO! I am not Ryan and only half-kidding. She does hate them, but actually, I am just as concerned about being too much of a poseur (a title I usually relish) since I am not a racer.
who is Ryan?? is this an inside joke?

i go all the way...into a fade. i definitely recommend the "Porn look".

you don't want the hair left behind to look as though you're still wearing shorts! hahahah

i have been shaving for the past 12+ years. i started when i raced motocross.

also, you might want to invest in some clippers. they work good on certain body parts where shaving might irritate as it grows back.

seems like it would be the other way around. pre-op shaves are now done right before surgery as opposed to the night before to reduce infection. right DrPete?
