For me, there is life other than cycling, although I do well enough on group rides not to embarass myself. I do a lot of other sports too, so I actually do have an upper body

That brings up a question ive been meaning to ask, is it really advantageous to shave your legs?
To stay in the same vein as the post, even my TRACK buddies in highschool used to joke that if i turned sideways, i disappeared.

But seriously, the key to losing weight is to establish a maintainable lifestyle change that allows you to steadily (ie. over weeks/months) burn more calories than you eat. You can (a) reduce calorie intake through diet, or (b) increase caloric expenditure through exercise, or (c) a bit of both.
Most health/nutrition professionals recommend weight-bearing exercise at fat-burning intensity (i.e. low-to-moderate intensity) and a diet rich in filling but low-calorie foods, but these recommendations are made because they are sustainable, not because they are magic. You could eat nothing but sugar and sit in front of a TV all day and still lose weight.

It seems most cyclists lean towards volume and away from intensity. Certainly, one-minute intervals should only be once a week, but I never ever skip that workout. I think most overweight and/or slow people have an empty loop in their tool belt where the 1-minute-interval-hammer should go.

People are generally shocked when I tell them I weight 135. They guess much lower.

As far as the abnormally low part, considering how skinny I am it is no strech of the imagination by any means.

Well, this is funny because yet another coworker commented on my weight. And yet again it was in the reception area next to the elevators. But the difference is that he's an athlete and bike commuter himself so his comment was "Hey, you look lean and mean! Are you training for something?" Which is a whole lot different than what I normally hear.

5'8" (maybe slightly under) and 150lbs right now. I want to hit 145, but ideal for me would be 140.
I'm 44th percentile for my age, so unfortunately, the only people saying I'm too skinny are the parents and my girlfriend.
