Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Well first off, invest in a pair of good booties. I bought a pair of neoprene booties that are incredible! However, even with booties on your feet will still get wet. More importantly, they will stay warm.

Also important, to dry out your shoes, pack them tightly with newspaper (will take one section of your paper per shoe). Leave the newspaper in for 15-30 minutes, then pull it out. Let them sit, and your shoes should be dry the next day. If you want to accelerate drying even faster, let them dry near a return for your heating system.

booties wont stop your feet from getting wet as the water will run down your shin into your shoes. However booties will stop your shoes getting road grime all over them, being warm is part of the problem as bacteria loves warm wet places, come to think of it so do I ;-)

When I used to work for a living(construction) the steel cappers used to give me tinea due to shoes not breathing well. Canestan foot treatment that comes in a bottle of liquid you can drip all over your toes got rid of the problem. Powder and sprays never did squat for me.

I've heard daktarin works well maybe try that too, although I havent tried that.

The key is your feet being able to breathe, a bit hard when wet. Best thing is post exercise treatment, Get your feet clean and dry and apply a tinea\athlete foot treatment, one that keeps your feet dry is best, and don't wear shoes for as long as possible unless absolutely necessary.

Bikes: yes please

may not be the same thing, but whenever I would come back from a ride in the cold (<30*F) my feet/hands would become very itchy as the blood rushed back to my extremeities. So, I now wait 20 min or so to more evenly adjust before I undress and take a warm shower.

Perhaps, wet feet in even in moderate temp could have the same effect...
