Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So I got my first roadie last week (thanks velomedieval!).
06 LeMond Etape. Simple, non-flashy, entry level ride.
Me likes.

Now up to this point I have been riding a singlespeed around town (nyc), requiring nothing more than shanties, tshirt and maybe a light jacket was about it. After doing about 18miles in the park today on my first long ride with the Etape, it has come to my attention that I can't keep riding like this. I need to get proper attire.

Where's a good place to find stuff aside from performance bike (of which I haven't been too pleased with lately)? I don't want anything that is too flashy and if it is, I want it to be funky (I saw a short sleeve jersey with Super Grover on it - fresh!). I'm not super serious yet, but I would like to dress ready to ride.

Cheers.

Primal wear makes.. uh... funky jerseys . Lots to choose from although I've never owned one so I can't speak to it's comfort or anything.

Check the stuff that Probikekit and competitivecyclist have. They have best prices for good stuff, but not sure about funkyness. I know that if I wear my jersey more than twice without washing it, it gets really funky.

I've been rocking that Super Grover jersey for a couple of weeks and I love it. I'm not super serious either so I'd feel like a turd if I was sporting the full race kit. Happy shopping and congrats on the new Lemond!
