"Pulling the trigger" to someone who has actually had the experience symbolizes a single, explosive, sudden action following significant planning and preparation. Think of the amount of homework most people do when buying a high-end bike, then think of how easy it is to write that check or swipe that credit card. Your fear and ignorance of guns just means you don't understand it. Not saying that to be insulting, BTW--you probably just don't have the experience. As someone who spent 4 years on the rifle team in college, it makes perfect sense.

My wife pulled the trigger finger to release some pressure and my hand felt a lot better. I then was able to pull the trigger on my drill as I worked on a piece of metal which required me to pull the trigger on a spray bottle full of oil with my left hand to lubricate the drill bit. I didn’t realize that completing this chore would pull the trigger and cause a landslide of honey do’s to issue forth from the wife. Next I had to take care of Will Roger’s horse so I went and pulled Trigger into the barn.

So, it's not really a good metaphor then is it? Most trigger pulling I read about involves very little planning and preparation, unless you count the drinking and drugs ahead of the incident.

I think we all need to stop using the term crazy. Boy you were crazy for riding down that 25% grade with no brakes. You bought something from Walmart? Are you crazy? Dude, that bike is crazy hot! You mean I actually have to wash things that smell? That's just crazy talk.

The man in VA responsible was "crazy." That is what made him "pull the trigger."

And as for the rest of us....we are crazy too. Anyone that can justify spending thousands of dollars on what most of society considers a toy is crazy.

So go ahead and "pull the trigger" on your next "crazy" bike purchase. It is worth it. I think.
