Cool, another PF groupbuy! I'm another happy RS owner. Looks like the new ZX3 is a sexed-up RS. With the RS, ADK used/stole the geometry from the Kuota Kredo (identical to the mm) and the tube shapes from the Isaac Impulse (minus Isaac's signature bulging headtube). I wonder if the new ZX3's tube shapes come from any frame out there, or if they're a new design?

I have a hard time thinking ADK stole those measurements and tube designs...my guess is ADK makes those frames.

Yes, that's my guess too, that ADK manufactures those frames as well. As for who designed them and who could claim IP on the design ... who knows. A lot of work like this ends up being a collaboration between the manufacturing plant's engineers and the client's engineers and product managers.

Whoever did the design work on the RS was a pretty smart cookie, IMHO, as I really like mine. I didn't get the feeling that Pedalforce were bike experts, though. They buy one thing from one catalog, another form another, and put them together and hope they work right. They're more of an importer and distributor than a bike company per se. That's cool, and it's what lets them get away with such good prices, but you have to do a little legwork on your own.

Engineers at Ritchey, Trek, and Cannondale find and identify counterfeit knock-off products by subjecting products to stress testing, and then slicing them up and examining them from the insides. Millions of dollars of equipment involved.

The best "guarantee" you are getting a premium quality frame and fork is pretty easy. You go to the best Trek dealer, the best Cannondale dealer, best Specialized dealer, or the best Giant dealer in your town. You buy a frame and fork that says Trek, Cannondale, Specialized or Giant, with the lifetime warranty, backed by the factory.

They have found the fella in communist China who supplied the poisoned wheat gluten that was killing American pets. He said "This was the fault of the Americans...you want the cheapest products and you got the cheapest product".

And if you look for the cheapest frame and fork on the market, the communist Chinese have exactly what you are looking for...
WTF are you spewing ? did you even read or try to comprehend what i said ?? The damn frame's origin has nothing to do with what i spoke about bla bla bla ...." Even if the BD frame is exactly that same as the RS I prefer the ZX3 design a bit over that of the RS." Where the hell did i say anything about origin of Manufacturing or the build physical strength / quality for the puss you just spilled out?
BTW if I wanted a nice high end carbon bike frame I would not buy a factory pushed /made bike... Nothing wrong with them just I would rather go throw my hard earned money @ a small private bike builder or someone who can make it by hand, just my preference for spending the $$$. Builders like IF , Steelman , AEGIS ,crumpton cycles , or any other small frame builder. I’m just someone who likes supporting the little guy over big ones.
Uggg not to get ugly or anything but what you are spewing out is uncalled for on this thread

True, but seems to be a good success with the RS and the Mtn frame group buy they had. In fact, I think PedalForce is going to help things along by throwing in the seat clamp free for the earlier deposit payers. Think we could push for a little extra? hehe

So what happens if there are more than 100 buyers at the lowest pricepoint? I am thinking of jumping in also...

...does anyone have any complete build pics of this frame?

You get the same deal. In fact, now that it is at $480 I would expect more people to be jumping in.

I am trying to resist right now, but a vision of my old black Peugeot keeps coming in my head, saying "you want a black bike... and you will put yellow and orange details on it!"

So the question I have is, what do I need to buy from them if I am going to switch from my Airborne? Just the frame? Or is the rear dérailleur hanger needed?

You will have to check the dimensions (available on the PF web site) but you may need a new seat post, seat post clamp, and derailleur hanger. And what about the fork? It will probably be okay, as long as the stem is still long enough for the frame you want.

That is true.... I totally didn't think about it at all. Still debating as time winds down.

53. Definitely. i've got a QS2 and had the same decision to make. i went with the 55, i'm 2" taller than you, with a longer inseam. the bike fits 'perfect' according to sizing charts, but in retrospect i would have preferred a slightly smaller frame w/ a longer stem and a higher seatpost...

i think you'd have a hard time making the 55 work.

hope that helps

PF recommended a ZX3 55cm with 100-120mm stem. The QS2 has a slightly longer top tube so they recommended a 53cm QS2. I ride comfortably on a 56cm trek w/ 100mm stem right now. Wish I could try it out.

So, in the group buy, we're getting the following frame from ADK:

THIS

Does anyone happen know if its the Regular Model or the SL?

Given the comments that have come back from PF, I'd bet its the SL...

I'd also bet that any of the ADK frames from BD are the Regular models, and not SL. Your thoughts or knowledge on the subject are appreciated.

Nice find! I had been looking at biketaiwan.com, which didn't list the newer ADK frames. Thanks for the link!

The RS is definitely the SL version of the AKFM03, so I'd guess the new ZX3 will be too, since they say the weight is the same. But I don't have any more info than you do. Pedalforce was pretty mum about the details with the RS groupbuy -- they wouldn't even confirm that the frame was from ADK, even after a BFer got his frames with an ADK sticker attached ...

Anyone else ordering the fork along with the frame?? Those of you that ordered the fork from the previous GB what do you think? Is it the same one? Quality, specs etc..

Thanks!
