Swiss numberplate....

Since the photo I snapped the rear derailleur during rigorous acceleration so that had to be replaced, the LBS stuck a Tourney RD on, pissing off but its working okay. And i got some new bar tape, and took off the mudguard and carryrack.

the first is the obligatory "bike in front of a garage door"... but its mine and and i like it.

the second is the TT bike. stock photo... mine's not shimano... but campy.

enjoy.

Nice bikes sleazy. Like Campy much? a Look with Campy, a TT HED. with Campy and a fixie with a Campagnolo crank. BTW: Do you like the track cranks? I'm looking at getting a set for my future track build.

The Look is amazing. Exactly what I'd want in a bike. Those cages are hot.

The steel frame on the fixie is beautiful.

You've got your quick release levers on the wrong side. :)

yeah- i started on campy back in the late 80s... and always just thought shimano was too much like a sewing machine.

the cranks on the fixie are actually normal gran sports... with the small chain ring removed and the large one moved over. i wanted to make it with parts laying about- i think the only thing i bought was the stem and the eccentric hub.

thanks for the compliments.

Just got this for 300 Euros. The frame looks more retro than Meatloaf. I've been told it's Columbus tubing but heck if I know anything about it.
3-years-old Mavic Cosmic wheelset, different tires (20/23mm) in the front/back, full Shimano 105 group. The wheels are true for the time being though I have to wonder how 20 spoke count wheels will cope with my almost 200lbs and the pot-holed roads around here.

Ay caramba! Did you always have Campy on this bike? I thought you used to have Sora.

At any rate, it's looking very sweet. Loving the Livestrong on the seatpost.

Nope, I got some cash this xmas and decided to splurge on veloce shifters ($100 on eBay) and a Jtek shiftmate.

So now I got a 10 speed shifter running on 8 speed:D

Ahaha, very cool! Definitely makes the bike look sweet (but then again, I'm biased). :)

Sweet pic.

Yep 06 veloce. With the shiftmate it works surprisingly well, I thought it would take alot of tweaking to make it work. It was virtually plug & play, I just need to adjust the low limit screw and it's done. I haven't tried the trim yet, it works well so far without any rubbing.

And yes, you can still do the multiple shift thing.

And a quick review:

Loving:
Clean look, the paddle shifters, the brake release thing on the levers, multi-shift ability. And my favourite : the micro-indexing of the front derailler.

Hates:
The "unrefined" shifting. I actually miss the smooth shift of the Sora:D , the shifters gave a "clunk" feel when going to the smaller cog/ring. Is that how it is or I did I get a crappy unit?

Aha! That's awesome! :D

What a great way to do Campy on a budget. I should buy some Campy shifters for my older bikes. Which model Shiftmate did you use? I can't find the one under the charts on their website (Campagnolo 10 speed shifter + Shimano RD + Shimano 8 spd cassette).

And yep, I call it the "Campy Clunk". Campy shifts are a lot more visceral, or 'passionate' if you're a real fanboy. ;) Shimano is a lot more subtle with each shift; you get a nice click. I always thought it was the derailleur that was responsible for the difference in feel, but I guess that the shifter plays a part in it too. For the record, I've owned both Sora and Veloce.

After one or two thousand miles they 'break in' and become a lot smoother. That's the meaning behind the saying "Campy breaks in while Shimano breaks". Not sure how much truth there is to that in reality, but you get the picture.

Cool!

The New Machine.

Trek Madone 5.2 SL 62cm Triple, with the Mavics I already owned. Full Ultegra, except Trek must have been out of stock of rear derailleurs, and put on a Dura Ace. Deda "Supernatural" 46cm bars and Deda Newton 140mm stem. Cat Eye double wireless computer. Serfas Terrazo saddle. Speedplay SS Frogs.

Very sweet ride. My inner Fred LOVES the mirror, so no wisecracks.

alanfleisig 01-04-07 10:09 AM

Old Reliable.

2003 Trek 1500 63cm Triple, with Race XLite wheels grafted from the new Madone. Ultegra/105 mix 9 speed. Thompson post. Campy seatpost collar. Serfas Terrazo saddle. Frogs. Special "Election 2006" decals.

For when it's too hot and the carbon fiber would melt, or it's too cold and the carbon fiber gets brittle and breaks. (Actually, I think this is going to be mostly for plane-based travel.)

DM4 01-04-07 11:27 AM

DeRosa w/ Columbus SLX and Campy C-Record. I ordered a new bike in October and will be picking it up this weekend. It is a DeRosa Corum (I like steel) with Campy '07 Record group and Eurus tubular wheels

I posted my Nishiki when I got it, but it's so different now I figured that would be my excuse for posting it again. :p Plus it's my favorite bike. :D
