Just started riding road. Saving up for a really good bike. Gonna ride this until then, and use it for my rain bike when I buy another. I'm considering a few mods, but I haven't decided on any particular ones yet. I welcome ideas.

I think it's the soft "roof" I took the picture from. That tyre is up to 120psi.

Ben's bellisimo SL3 pushed me to finally post pics of my EV3. Tricked out in Campagnolo Record carbon. Yeah, I even sprung for the bottle cages. Went with an EC70 seatpost though as I had read many complaints about the Record seatpost's durability. Haven't cut the steerer tube yet, though I'm comfortable and ready to.

Yo Khoun, I've been away for a while and what dya know first check and another rider with impeccable taste, an Aegis, it has prompted me to post a picture of mine again. Love those people at Aegis, first full season riding it and I cannot speak highly enough, it's a dream!
I too had a couple of minor scratches, I used nail varnish which has worked quite well.

Sweet! May be a dumb question, but I currently ride Campy Mirage on my San Remo. Just wonder how you like the Record? I've been eyeing some NOS bikes at the closest Bianchi dealer. (90 miles away) They have an '03 Veloce that interests me most. They also have an '03 Giro, but its an ugly BLUE!

Ben, it's a Selle San Marco Aspide Arrowhead Ti. Took a week to acclimate myself to it, but I love it. I'm getting another for my Volpe. I love the cutout, it's light, and so far it is holding up extremely well.

N7C7inMT, I love the Record components. The Ergo shifters cannot be beaten. Light, reliable, and drop dead sexy. The brake calipers are second to none; the "reference" for road brakes. The derailleurs are superb.

However, I'm neutral on the carbon crank and the cassette. I got a great deal on that crank, so I'm happy, but I don't know that it is a huge improvement over the alloy crank (considering the rider); the alloy Record crank with all the carbon cranks flying around is a very good deal. I could have done without the carbon crank, but I got on a roll putting this thing together. The cassette is terrific, but the 23 and 25 cogs are titanium and will wear quicker than the steel cogs. Haven't seen the signs yet, but I try to minimize riding in those cogs when I train.

I like the Ergo shifters of the Mirage gruppo as well. Of course, I have never ridden STIs so only can compare to the old 10 speed I had before I got the San Remo. I am looking forward to a new "race" bike. Bianchi has moved to the top of a very short list. Thanks for sharing your impressions.

I've used both Ergo and STI. My current bike has STI. In principle I like the design of the Ergo better since your only use the brake lever to brake. Both are easy to use from the hoods, however in the drops I think the thumb lever on Ergo is kinda akward. I don't spend too much time in the drops though so I don't think it would be an issue. So I'd say go ride a bike with STI and see what you think. The Vigorelli is the same price as the Veloce and has Shimano Ultegra.

Here is my 2000 Bianchi XL EV2 built in the last 6 months with full Ultegra components, Ksyrium Elite wheels, Fizik Arione saddle, Thompson Elite post, Look PP396 pedals, Kestrel EMS Pro fork, Ritchey Pro stem, and 3TTT Handlebar. It rides very smooth and fast.

Nice ride, gpelpel. What size are the crankarms and the frame?

I have a 105 group on my Volpe, and as I've stated before, 105 is tough to beat value wise. While I like Ergo better, I don't have a problem with STI. Just prefer the thumb shifters, especially when doing sprints. Of course, real sprinters who use Dura Ace don't have a problem. Like others, I also prefer the cleaner look of the shifter cables routed along the bar.

They are 175mm crankarms. The frame is a 59cm (c-t), top tube is 57.5cm (c-c). I would also prefer shifter cables routed along the bar. But Shimano is cheaper and works well so I have to do with it.

Finally it's done, my not-so-triathlon Trek 2300 Pro. I had a post a couple of weeks ago about this bike but I finally did it. I did the switch myself and just took it down to the LBS for a general maintenance package. The Fi:zi'k Pave rides very well and I have not had any problems with it. It's not the lightest carbon bike out there and I know I can do a lot better. When I have to ride with Lance, I will cross that bridge when I am there...

Believe it or not, I actually bought the bike from a old friend of mine. It was a Trek 2300 Pro cir 1991, I took off the drop bars and put on the tri-bars, brake cables and what not. And I did it all myself!! I rode it for the past four days, and I certify that it does not kill people...

It's not the lightest triathlon bike in the world but you have to start somewhere...

Funny, I remember the time when that bike was a brand new model and advertised in the TREK brochures. I was in the running for a new bike that summer but swayed for a Peugeot with Shimano RX 100 (what a great looking gruppo that was), the TREK being way above my teenage budget
