Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

edit: the brake cable is long too.
I'm guessing he flipped it and since the cables were running fine, decided not to mess with them.

I feel a little inadequate putting pics of my new ride on here with all these other amazing bikes.

I just recently quit smoking, after 2 packs a day for over 20 years, and took up cycling as my new serious hobby… Got my first 100+ mile ride coming up this May (on my 38th b-day.

For my budget and experience level I am really happy with my new bike and the few upgrades I have done to it.

You might want to get fit on that, Biff.

Just looking at the position of the shifters makes my wrists hurt.

In the process of the fitting, next week to be exact. I live in a very very small community, the closest bike shop that does fittings is about two hours away.

New tires! Only thing I've changed since I bought it is the saddle [Selle Italia SLR Gel Flow], chainrings [Stronglight CT2], bars [Pro Vibe], and stem [3t 110mm].

Try flipping the stem down, then angling the bars up. That looks pppaaaaaiiiinnnful.

That's a good-lookin' build. And nice photo stance.

just try it. after you see it you will love it. it actually looks "more correct" any you will become like me and think everybody that doesnt cross their cables is wrong. its honestly a better smoother routing that uses a better curve and as a benefit, your housing doesnt rub the paint off your frame

I crossed mine when building up the XRL with 105 5600 - it definitely looks a lot cleaner that way.

I'm going to be trying crosscabling as well. As my bike is in pieces anyway, it never hurts to do so.
