Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's largely a frame transplant from a 2006 SAECO replica which is why it has the older version SL's. Great eyes.

Got ya. So they are just an older model. They look great though, at first I saw the leaf over the one spoke in the rear and I was like oh they painted it striped. then I focused. Then I was just confused. lol.

Got it a week ago, and right after it was ready to ride, I came down with a heavy cold... So today was the first ride, and it was gorgeous...

Come on man, what kind of a stupid excuse is that not to ride a bike like that? Anything above the neck you can ride out of the body.

He should also realize that his cross-chaining has made baby Jesus sad.

Thanks man, I'm dying to get rid of the crank, I really don't like it. I'd prefer to keep a compact on the bike though, thinking about Fulcrum possibly. Any suggestions?

Nothing wrong with the FSA cranks by the way.

No, not custom built. I don't have a problem with the seatpost, though I do usually prefer a bit less compact a frame. The spacers are 3cm, probably will drop to 2cm or 25mm. The crank is a piece of ****! I don't know if you've ever ridden one but the nondrive-side crank fastening bolt come loose if you look at it, which is really not a characteristic I look for in a crank.

p.s. I'll take 7800 over 7900 if given the choice, thank you

no, its not.

and you'll have the same power up the hill in the small chain ring using the proper cog to get the same gear inch as the cross chained big ring.

I have had a similar thing happen on mine. The aluminum insert has become loose within the crank arm.
Gonna see if I can get it warrantied.
It's a few years old...

I have FSA SLK cranks on my Cervelo P2C and I've never had a problem with them. The Cervelo is used in Oylmpic and Ironman 70.3 triathlons so it has to "work" for a living which means that it gets beat up pretty good so if there was an issue I would have experieced it. I have DA 7800 on the Cervelo and my daughter's Six13 and it works great. I also have some issue with the FD overshifting the 42 in front on my Cervelo but only if I'm agressive and shifting front and back deraillers at the same time. I hear that the chain guards can prevent overshifting in front. The only advantage to 7900 is that the cables can run through the bar and a slight weight adavantage but even many of the pros used 7800 at last year's TDF.

And at this year's Roubaix and Flanders. Anyone notice that Cervelo Test Team and Saxo Bank, two teams notorious for their focus on their equipment, both switched to SRAM when 7900 became their only option with Shimano?
