Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Nice! I don't find them ugly. They match your rims, chainrings and FD cage.

Biggest looks detractor, IMO is the cranks. Something with smaller logos with no red in them would be nice.

And ignore the "cut your steerer tube" line from earlier until you decide you're dialed in and want to keep the bike for a long while.

Okay, here is an updated pic of mine (I fitted a new chain yesterday and the sun was shining):

Felt Z35: Nokon cables, Look KEO Carbon pedals, Selle Italia Thoork Gelflow saddle, Cinelli Carbo Ribbon tape. And I've slammed the stem.

Nope- it's a 54cm, size M. But, you're talking about 7 or 8 years of slowly upgrading, buying and selling various parts to get to this point (and learning how to build/wrench your own bike).

Personally, I can't stand the look of some of these new carbon cages. Traditional cages are simple, much more aesthetically pleasing and I never have seen a thread with "my $50 titanium bottle cage shattered!".

I have this exact bike in 52cm. It's currently on Craigslist so I can finish putting together a 1980's Cannondale frame in Dura-Ace 7402.

I must've been crazy to buy that $2,500+ bike as my first road bike; what was I thinking?

I also started to get turned off to all the labeling, a big "Cannondale" across the downtube is all you need IMO.

And if I ever decide to race, I'm using the same 80's R300 and replace the old-school parts with Rival. The only problem is, Cannondale painted their bikes at the time with this dark blue paint that actually doesn't match black! They managed to find the only color in the world that doesn't match black.
Man I'm having major problems selling this bike...Docs say I'll never race, so I have little need for the accoutrements this bike provides. So I'm selling unless I can overcome these hurdles.

1. 52 cm. All 4 interestd parties off craigs wanted 56's.
2. It has first generation Rival, which is in silver. I'm pretty sure people prefer the black.
3. Sentimentality! Last year the System Six was manufactured (great bike imo), and it was made the last year Cannondale made bikes in the US! (not sure if quality took a dive, just a thought).
4. The price I'll get won't even be near what I paid. ($2400?) There are losses I'm perfectly fine taking, but there are some that are just out of the question.

I'm probably putting this in the wrong thread, my bad.

EDIT: Or I can ride the damn thing, crashes be damned and live with teh consequences, I've flatlined 3 times in my life and I'm afraid of scratching my expensive bike in front of real cyclists.

Being bi-polar sucks.

EDIT #2: The gaudy paint-job really gets on my nerves. Since the bike is half carbon and half alu I can't. Otherwise I'd just remove all the but the downtube decanls and made in USA decal, tone down the "artist strokes" and keep it a nice red/black bike.

N+1
Scott CR1 SL size XXS (47)

DuraAce compact drive train (Excelsports, club sponsor, thanks you guys rule!)
Rol D'Huez with SL+ Powertap (= Kinlin XR270 w/CX Ray, 20/24) (Rol, club sponsor, thanks for the incredible turnaround on this special order!)
Ritchey Superlogic II bars (Excelsports)
Ritchey WCS Carbon seatpost (Craigslist)
Ritchey WCS (alu) Stem 80mm
Specialized Toupe Expert Saddle
Look Keo Max II Carbon Pedals (ebay)
Forte (Performance) carbon cages

Build by Vecchio's, the absolute bestest of the best mechanics

Weight 14.6# no cages or tape, with pedals, and with a heavier stem and saddle. I think it's just under 15 with those items, plus computer bracket & pump bracket. Scale is on order, so I don't know exactly what it weighs now.

Disclaimers:
--Still have to cut the steerer - fit is next week.
--I don't have a white garage door, only green siding.
--I'm a really bad photographer.
--I'm short. Little bikes are just not as good looking as big ones.

Cool Scott!

I've had a scott once in my day (Scale 29er RC) and loved it. Almost got an Addict but ended up going a different route.

I had the fit copied over from my previous bike, which I've been riding for two years. Sometimes I feel like I could stand to get a little lower in the drops, but I'm used to this setup now, so will just stick with it.

I love looking through this thread at all the awesome bikes, mine is well eh not so awesome.

Started with a KHS flite 300 as my first road bike 5 months ago and have slowly elimanted the Sora group and built it into something a little more aggressive and fun.

I put about 3000 miles on this frame so far and am loving it even if it isn't that sexy...

S-works fact carbon bars-Cannondale C3 stem, Fizik microtex tape, FSA headset, Ultegra 6500 calipers, Dura Ace 7800 Brifters, Ultegra 6600 front and rear derailleurs, FSA SL Carbon Crank with Time Titan RXS pedals, FSA titanium BB, EC90 SL fork, Selle Success RTM saddle, Icon Carbon searpost, Mavic Ksyrium equipes with an ultegra 6600 cassette.

Cat 5 here I come....maybe, well if not this year next for sure.

Yeah! without riders like you trickling your parts down, at amazing prices nonetheless. I would still be riding an 8 speed sora bike. I am sure eventually the right deal will come along for a sweet 54cm frameset! Good thing is the whole time I have been riding trying to turn my chicken legs into pure steel instead of saving money for a sexy Scott or C'dale.

This a frame and fork I built for myself from Columbus Zona .8.5.8 tubes, paragon drops and BB shell. I did an "embossed" style head badge, recessed routing under the BB shell and finished with Hawaiian blue powder.
73X73 X575 top tube
3T bars
Thomson layback post
Thomson 7X110 stem
Red shifting, cranks and brakes
Fulcrum wheels
Mavic tires
Rolls saddle
old shimano pedals.

My first new road bike since 1992 or so. I have had this bike for about a week and have ridden about 100 miles so far. My first ride was on a borrowed carbon fork, stem and pillar to get the fit sorted. I switched to the steel fork for a while and it is no trouble on the bad roads I ride on.
