Not my first or only road bike, but I just picked this up for a great price. It is a 2004 Trek 1500 56cm. It has been sitting on a trainer since it was new and only has 60 miles on the computer. This thing is practically brand new. I didn't really need it, but couldn't turn it down. I found it kind of curious that Trek mismatched the components. 105 shifters, Tiagra front derailleur, and an Ultegra rear derailleur. The spec sheet even said that was stock. Pretty nice ride..

It's FSA, he will find out sooner or later when it falls off of his bike. FSA cranks are usually pretty good about doing that. You should really have a S-Works crank on there however. A S-Works bike w/o an S-Works crank should be illegal.
i have a 2011 trek 2.1, i think it has an FSA crank, ive considered puting a 105 crank on it because all the other components are 105. that would be an upgrade wouldnt it? sorry for my ignorance on the subject, im a newb and havent messed with switching stuff around. (also sorry for being off topic)

It would be an upgrade only for the frustration it will save you when it fails. My friend has a Bianchi 928 with full 105, and it had a FSA crank. two weeks ago the pedal fell off. Crank threads were shot. He bought a 105 crank, and I installed it for him. He is very happy with it. It looks a lot better too. Normally I don't advise in buying Shimano stuff, but in this case it would be a cost effective upgrade. Just don't buy a current model Ultegra or Dura Ace crank. Those things look horrid, I don't care how stiff they are.

I have one on my P2 and can't wait to swap it out with a Force or Red crank. They look like someone just threw a dead octopus on your bike (aka like they do at hockey games). Just got to be patient to catch a great deal in the used market.

Finally someone gets it. You are alright in my book. I really like the dead octopus analogy as well. I am going to use that in the future.

A lot of Treks lately. Let me post new pictures of my '89 660:

It's been my fixed gear rain bike for a few years. The powder coating was getting pretty ragged so I decided to strip it and repaint it. But after I got it stripped I liked the look of the bare metal so much I decided to just wax it with some automotive wax and build it up. I'll probably eventually paint it -- the wax probably won't protect the steel very well during the rainy season, but for now, I really like the industrial look.

(Still working my way through a couple weeks' worth of ungazed-at bikeporn here
) VERY NICE. I'm a hidebound traditionalist at heart, and I love the classic looks. The silver and neon green combo is striking. Curious how much the full-up bike weighs.
Concur 110% and then some. Shimano used to design solid stuff that was pretty. Those new Ultegra cranks look like they were machined out of manhole covers or pie plates or something. Ugh.
