Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Is there a reason.....?

Is there any reason why he's wearing an Ergo2 on the left and a Genius 6.6 on the right?

I've never seen this happen before.

I never would have noticed had it not been pointed out, but the buckles are clearly different -- the right shoe has a black background, the left, white.

the buckle straps are replaceable, i'm guessing they just didn't have a matching one.

+1 - That' just a different colored arch compression strap. The replacements are readily available....in black.....and usually that's it.

So same shoe just one is sporting a replacement strap.

Now go back to looking at the bikes....not the rider's feet. Sheesh...

The right shoe has a silver toe, the left doesn't.

I'd say that it does. Looks like bad angle and lighting in this picture.

Maybe you ought to brighten your monitor a bit.

The right shoe

One thing different, his first velcro is tighten inward instead.

The left shoe

Notice how the yellow stripes show in my OP picture.

They're definitely different shoes. Regardless of color, there is only one velcro strap on his left shoe. Instead, it's that little band tighten thingy. Maybe it's a way to save a few bucks without getting too carried away.

I agree. Those are some hot shoes. But they seem to me to be like designer fashions - when a model has them on the runway, they (and she) look great. But, if I were to actually see them out on the road, they may be overpowering. Maybe not. They're gorgeous.
