Racing Technique
I'm not trying to gripe or anything, but last night I was taken out by a racer who did not hold his line through one of the turns (Wednesday Night Crit @ Invesco / SM4).
Instead of holding the line he took entering the turn, he was nice enough to swing wide through the middle - exactly right into my line. In order to avoid collision, I had to move with him, thus pounding right into a stack of fence sections right off the track. Luckily, I sacrificed my body for my bike and she'll be just fine :-)
In the June ACA newsletter the President brought up a good point on learning to race/ride BEFORE actually participating in such events. Now don't get me wrong, I'm no professional racer, but I know how to hold my line through turns at speed - and am aware of myself and the racers around me.
As a racer we need to not only be concerned with our own safety, but the safety of those around us. So, please hold your line through the turns. Thanks!
