Polar CS200Cad Problem

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Polar CS200Cad Problem

I have had the computer about a year (5,000 miles) and the other day it just died on my ride. I figured the battery finally gave out. I replaced the battery, but now when I turn it on I can get through (as long as I do not pause more than 3-4 seconds) the default set-up, but as soon as I press the middle button on the "set-up done" screen, the computer just shuts off. I've emailed Polar without a response yet. Anyone else ever experience this?

Mine did exactly the same thing, though it was only about 3 months old. My amateur diagnosis - the backs of the CS200 are not well made and after messing with the battery cover a couple of times it closes but doesn't press the battery against the contacts well. I put a shim under the cover and it worked fine. However between that problem and the thing cutting out under power lines I decided it wasn't well enough made, so I got a Garmin edge last week.

I'll send mine into Polar to have them put a new back on it under warranty then give it to a friend...

I exchanged mine for a CS400 for the additional memory. Altitude and gradient are nice too.
