Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Nice. Great weather for the PMC. Thank God the humidity is supposed to be lower.

I'll be thinking of you guys while I'm on the fully supported ride . Also when I'm getting my complimentary message in Bourne after pigging out at the buffet.

I REALLY hate to have to do this, but the way I feel now after getting my teeth yanked, I cannot do the ride this weekend .

It will have to be on the 11th.

Yeah, I've ridden Block Island before. It's not all that challenging though...not enough miles of paved road. I guess I can bike at home early before driving out to catch the ferry. Now there's a challenge: making the crossing without turning green (insert green nauseous-looking smiley face here). Hmmmm parasailing, perhaps after some liquid motivation, that can be something to pursue .

Sorry that you're in pain from the tooth extraction. Hopefully they gave you some nice painkillers to take the edge off . If the group ride takes place 8/11, take some pics and share the good, the bad, and the ugly. Wish I could be there

All the info is in the first post of the thread - 10 a.m., Lot 9 in UCCON/Storrs campus. Look for the dude slumped over his Trek 2500.

Hey, I just got back from a family week on Block Island. I wanted to do a century but just could not get the logistics down. I did get in a once around 16 mile ride, a twice around 32 mile ride, and a 48 mile three time around ride. It was like your own little race course at 5:30 in the morning. I hope to get a post up about the trip with my pictures and Motion Based details about the ride.

Being single again seems like not such a bad idea !!

Oh well. I mapped out a nice ride I might do instead. 65 miles around lower Litchfield country with 6500 feet of climbing. Depends what I do on Sat. If not this weekend, then I'll try to find some other masochists to go with me in a week or 2.

Heh....I'd join you in two weeks if I'm feeling better. As it is, I'm trying to figure out how I can do Hilltowns with the way I feel right now. I've ridden like 3 days this month.

I'm going to be up in CT this weekend camping with friends. I already told GuitarWizard that I plan on doing the ride he mapped out in the OP in this thread. Not sure of the exact time I'll be getting to the UConn campus but am shooting for before 9am.

If anyone wants to join me let me know. Shoot me a PM for my cell number, I head up to CT tomorrow morning.
