Is my belly too Big?
Hello. I've been reading on this forum for a while and I would like to take the chance to thank everybody for such great posts, I've learned a lot...
To introduce myself, my name is Daci, I am in Miami, 5.10, 190 weight, 32 years old. I have an old Giant Perige road bike purchesed at an yard sale. I've fit it according with the calculators that I've found online but more i've addjust it riding it. So the bike is very comfortable(no back, neck etc. pain). The only problem I have is that I touch/slight hit my belly with the knees every time I hold the handlebar all the way down. So my question is my belly too big?
What can I do, besides holding the bar from the top for my knees not to touch my belly, or is this normal?
I have the seat set up correctly where my leg is slightly bent with the pedal at 6 o'clock.
Thank you.

nah. just get some shorter legs
I wouldn't worry about it unless it annoys you. Then you might want to post a pic of you on your bike in the posistion where your belly becomes close friends with your knees.

If your not a troll---sorry to be so blunt but this is like that "does this make my ass look big?" question. If your asking the question, its too big. I think its impossible to answer a qustion like this without pictures.

So long as it doesn't annoy you, everything should be ok. However, I have had an issue where this has annoyed me. When I lean my forarms on the handlebars (poor man's time trial position) my knees ever so slightly touch my belly. Normally this isn't a big deal unless my tummy isn't happy for some reason (too much sports drink or gu, usually). The combination of unhappy digestion and the steady thumping of my knees has caused me to seriously consider puking. Just something to keep in mind...

Nah, your belly's not too big. Your bars are too low. Both are adjustable, but the bars are probably easier.
1/2 cm can make a big difference, BTW. I tried lowering my bars that much, and when I was in the drops I found my knees going out to the side to avoid my gut. So i went back to the old height.

Ride for a while. Soon there will be a gap between your legs and your belly.

I love this dude. He's the first guy my height who's heavier than me in the history of BF.
Thank you.

Maybe riding a whole bunch of miles will "somehow" make the problem go away?

Its not a belly- its a Molson muscle! Essential for fast descents. Of course on the climbs- not so much.....

I had a similar problem. With a lifestyle change that problem magically disappeared. My lifestyle change included more time riding a bicycle, less time over a plate of food, and elimination of TV. I started feeling much better as a consequence of cycling and food choices and my mental abilities improved with disconnection of the TV. This computer and Internet access is my only vice! I should be riding my bicycle right now.

I started to change mine as well... Still learning about nutrition...I also go mountain biking in the weekends at the local park.
