Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Okay, I'll bite on this one, because I like them too (not ready to assign "best" status to them yet, especially in the rain). What is your favorite all around tire? Or, if you pick specific tires for specific events, what do you use?

I ride the races with Michelin Pro2 Race service pack which roll *very* smoothly and still have a great grip. They're not even close as durable as Krylion Carbon, though.

Hmmm...this is disconcerting. All the shops that I buy from (both local and online in Europe) have stopped carrying the Krylion. I just assumed that they were being discontinued, so now I'm switching to Pro2's. Unless any anyone has any better ideas...

They might be able to order them for you. Did you ask why they stopped carrying them? As to Pros vs Krylions, it depends why you want them. If you want puncture-proof tires, do not get the pro's, they'll be nowhere near as good as the Krylions.

Bought a set of Armadillo's for my '97 steel frame Lemond Alpe D' Huez, older basic Mavic rims ... soon as I get that bike up and running I'll give a report. Put a pin hole in a new tube by putting it on ..... that won't happen again !

Just bought the bike .... frame and all gears, chain, etc are in very good shape. Putting on new handlebar, tape, and re cabling the breaks and derailleurs, and when thats done we will see how it goes. taping for the first time, that may be interesting :-)

The bike is 56cm (I'm 5.10+) and fits like a dream.

Also here in Northern Europe demand exceeds supply, and the shops are short of them, so we better wait. You'll surely be happy with Pro2s but don't expect them to last as long as Krylions.

NOTE! after having driven over suspicious gravel or glass, or if your tires are getting old, use a minute every now and then to examine the rubber. There may be tiny bits of quartz or other mineral material that you must remove before it digs deeper and blows your inner tire. Helps to extend your tire's mileage.
