20 miles today, plenty of hills, plus I yard saled. Every time I approach this one area with a lot of fine, crushed stone I think that one of these days I'm going to fall. Well, today was that day. I was braking, for some reason waited a bit longer than usual to clip out, then felt my wheel start to slip and before I knew it I was on the ground. Oh well, good news is the bike doesn't even have a scratch and I only lost some skin on my elbow...could have been worse. Go ahead...everybody point and laugh!

30 miles in the pouring rain with two hardy companions. Pretty mellow riding with a few hills, two flat tires and lots of wet leaves on the road. At least we were out there.

I went for a short ride around the city, and got my first flat ever on an MTB. A 1" nail went right through the centre of my tire, and stupid me, I didn't have any repair stuff with me - luckily, there are about 5 LBSs nearby, so I stopped by and got it fixed at an outrageous price (note to self, be more prepared next time...yeesh!)

I did a few laps of the county park following my 7yo daughter. It's amazing how fast kids pick up skills on a bike.

I actually looked this morning and was surprised you had not started this thread yet.
My weekend ride was actually yesterday. I went out for a 65 mile solo (as always, really) ride. The temp was in the mid 70's, no wind except for the last 30-45 min. of it, and cloudy skies. It felt so nice for a change, especially with the lack of wind. It felt like I was going a little faster than I normally ride until I stop for a water reload at mile 45 and looked at the computer. I was going 1.5 mph faster than usual! The next 20 mile were with a little head wind but not bad, some rain, and about 12 miles of very rough and crappy roads. I averaged my usual speed for the last 20 miles, but when I got home I still was averaging about 1 mph faster than usual. I was a little tired at the end. I still need to work on keeping up with the drinking and eating even when I am feeling good and going faster. I tend to slack off then. Overall, I would say it was a very good ride.
Next weekend I am doing a century in Miami.

30 miles round trip today. They've been repaving A1A so most of the ride was on pristine asphalt. Amazing how it picks up your average speed.

60 mile ride... winds were crazy again today gusting up to 25mph.. i got batted all over the road but i did notice that i'm handling the bike better than ever.. it's days like this that i think i might look at the 303's instead of the 404's... i only averaged 17.7.. hill and winds slowed me a lot today

Nice hilly 50 miles around southern Litchfield County CT with 9 guys. About 5000 feet of climbing, mostly steep hills with flat sections in between. Chilly at 7 am, but I was well dressed and removed layers as it warmed up. Great quiet back roads, decent amount of pain & suffering, but could've been worse. Gonna do it again next Sunday !!

Treefox that's going to be a kick ass scar
My transition from Mtn bike to Road is going well. GF and I kicked out the 28 miles of the RI bike path today without too much discomfort for me. Pace (14mph avg today) is still an issue but it was busy today and she was tired so there wasn't much to do about it. I'd love to know what i could do that without all the people and road crossings. nice weather though.. 70 and only a little bit of wind

After a day and night of drinking yesterday at my girlfriend's uncle's wedding and driving back from NY this morning, I managed to eek out 30 hilly (to me) miles and kept a fairly respectable average of 17.5 mph considering I took an unknown route. Laundry and other chores where done friday night so now I rest.

Interesting ride today, somehow BF popped into my mind a couple times.
I went out alone for a 30 miler, sunny warm but windy as heck.
I passed two woman and made small chat and went my way just to find them on my wheel for the next couple miles, well.. Im taking my post back about sucking wheels and not caring about it, it's fine but "just ask!!!!!!"
I went faster and lost them, they were bugging me, the fact that they didnt ask bugged me ( and I needed caffeine)
then on the way back with ahead wind some nice guy passed me, just the right size to draft, I ASKED if i could and not only did he say yes but he asked me what pace i wanted him to set, I said "fast" and if I cant keep up too bad for me. he laughed and cranked it up.
he had this one nice brand spanking new madone.. he kept checking to see if I was still there.. at one point I thought Id lose him and then I could hear pcad saying "harden the f up" so i did
Nice day, cant wait for tomorrow to do it all over again.

Severe Santa Ana winds today and the valley is surrounded by wildfires, Malibu only being one of them. This morning I ran instead of rode. The next few days with the air full of smoke probably means indoor workouts only.

My weekend ride - first time posting to the thread. I took a 165 km trip from the main island of Japan called Honshu, across the Shimanami Bridges (7 in total) to the Japanese island of Shikoku. The route would look like this:

My day started with 40 kilometers of solo hammering to meet up with the group at the club ride start point half way across the route. The club ride is 84km, but I like to do the whole set of bridges for a full century. To get across to the first island you have to take a ferry.
From there I only took one quick break to snap this shot of my new ride before descending off the bridge MUP:
The next photo would have been a group shot of the club, but the guy that was supposed to take picture with my camera somehow didn't push the button. Instead, the next one is of us cruising along at recovery pace as a group.
Each bridge has a nominal toll to get across. 50¥ or 100¥
The bridges are quite a spectacular view as bridges go:

I woke up today and looked out the window to see about 2 inches of snow on everything.
It was about 29 degrees with a 20 mph North wind. Ride? Naaah.
Well, this afternoon it cleared up, the snow melted, and the sun was shining.
Okay, time to ride. It turned out to be a beautiful day and a great ride.
About 40 miles. The last half of the ride was with the wind, so the only sounds were the smooth whir of a freshly lubed chain and my tires on the asphalt at about a 27 mph clip. Does it get any better than that?
I snapped a few pics.

First time posting on this thread. Lovely idea. This morning, I joined the same group ride I've tried for the last four weeks. They ride Arlington-Lexington-Bedford-Concord-Carlisle and back to Arlington. Cradle of the Revolution, gorgeous New England fall colors, rolling farms and 67 degrees. Sweet.
I started late this season (early Sept.) and am trying to get back in shape after 26 years off the bike. So I've been dropped good and proper from this ride a number of times. Being the glutton for punishment, I keep going back.
Today, I finally stayed in the tail-end of the pack for the first leg. After that I branched off and took my own route, roughly 33 miles in total.
I'll admit was pretty close to bonking while trying to finish my route, after pushing to keep up for the first leg. But that rush of being in the pack... I want more. Hearing of others' struggles and successes here on BF helps me stay motivated. If others can push through, so can I, dang it.

About 35 solo miles. Beautiful weather here in northeast ohio, though a little windy. Probably about 78 degrees...damn good for oct-21.
